Osby looked good to start the summer league

They were talking up Noel, Victor and others then he scores the games first 5 points

Orlando's waived 6 players that were on their roster last season, so I hope Osby can find a spot with the Magic this season.

Cool pic of Romero during the game:

I still don't get how he didn't make the team last year. They were terrible, they spent a draft pick on him, and didn't even bother to find out if he could play.

Romero was injured last season.

The 3/4 position for Orlando was just too crowded last year - Glen Davis (until he was traded), Tobias Harris, Mo Harkless, Andrew Nicholson, and Adonis Thomas.

2nd round picks in the NBA aren't guaranteed a contract, its just tough luck.

Wish the best for Osby. Saw him in an airport and said BOOMER SOONER and he came over and said hello. He was very thankful he got to play for Kruger.

I understand they aren't guaranteed contracts, but seems like if you're tanking anyway you might want to find out if your second round pick can play.

Not to mention Jason Maxiell as well. With Davis, Thomas, and Maxiell gone as well as Harkless and Nicholson's development not where Orlando wanted it to be last season, I believe Romero's odds are higher to earn a contract.

It's kind of a catch 22 for NBA GM's. Those other guys have guaranteed contracts, so a GM has to decide if it's worth cutting someone and still paying his contract and sign a free agent. They would have to figure Osby would get a lot of playing time to justify that kind of choice.

Osby was going to get a long look in the NBA D League before he tore his labrum.

He might be able to find a bench spot, but his upside, IMO, just isn't all that high in the NBA. I do know he works his butt off though, so if there is any chance for him to stick, he'll certainly earn it.

When the Thunder get Pau and drop collison, Romero would be a great cheaper version of collison

I hate to say it, but I just don't agree. McGary would be a cheaper version of Collison. Osby doesn't have Collison's size or length or his rebounding/defense. Those are areas that will make Osby's path more difficult.

Offensively, he's light years beyond those guys. That will be his calling card.

Osby is nowhere near the player that Collison was. That's okay though, because there's a lot of room to be worse than Nick Collison and earn a spot in the NBA.

Is he? Collison was the career scoring leader in the Big 12 when he left KU. He has since been passed but Collison scored a lot of points in college.
