Osby looked good to start the summer league

Is he? Collison was the career scoring leader in the Big 12 when he left KU. He has since been passed but Collison scored a lot of points in college.

Collison was to college basketball what Kevin McHale was to the NBA. Collison was very crafty in college.

I hate to say it, but I just don't agree. McGary would be a cheaper version of Collison. Osby doesn't have Collison's size or length or his rebounding/defense. Those are areas that will make Osby's path more difficult.

Offensively, he's light years beyond those guys. That will be his calling card.

im a collison hater in the nba for many reasons.. one of those is that he's so soft around the rim while simultaneously being a bad finisher.. but he actually has a really good mid-range shot. i would say its better than osby's

osby is def more athletic and will actually dunk the ball unlike collison. I think Osby can make it in this league if given a chance and finding the right fit.

also collison was a beast in college there is no denying that.

Osby's midrange jumper is fantastic. Best part of his game IMO.

Well. Dang. I've either forgotten he belonged to Boston, or never new that happened.

they were apparently really excited about him and they were waiting until they could sign guys to 10 day contracts to bring him up for a look ..

he got hurt about a week before

I rarely make predictions but I will be shocked if RO isn't on an NBA roster this season.

Anyone know why he didn't play in the last game?

I think that's normal for the summer league. They have so many players, they set the rotation ahead of time so that they can give everyone a chance to shine with significant minutes in a game. Especially so for the free agents.

You are correct, usedtobe1. Every team I have watched so far does the same thing. In some cases, even the top free agents and draft picks take their turn on the bench.

As for Romero, I'm pulling for him to find the right situation so he will at least get a chance to show what he can do at the next level. It's not easy to do that in the summer league, because he doesn't see the ball much unless he makes his own play by rebounding misses or going for loose balls. One thing is for sure, no one will work harder than Ro.

I don't know if I would use the word soft to describe a guy that has played in the NBA for 10 years.

Nba longevity = not soft? Not sure i see the correlation.

Collison is apparently afraid of dunking the ball which results in unnesscary misses and blocks.. There's no denying he's soft around the rim

?

He prob leads the leage in charges taken per min. Just bc he does t sink and isn't athletic doesn't mean he is soft. He's a tough player. Anything but soft

There's a difference between a below the rim player and soft around the rim.

Collison looked like a shell of himself last year, but he's anything but soft. At age 34 and with an off-season knee surgery I'm doubtful that he'll ever be a signficant contributor in the league again, but he was a hard-nosed tough player in his day. And as others have pointed out, the fact that he isn't athletic enough to dunk anymore doesn't make him "soft around the rim." It means he's taken too many charges and his body doesn't really have it anymore.
