Michael Weathers, Kentrevious Jones and Maurice Calloo are no longer part of the Oklahoma State basketball program due to a violation of team rules, OSU announced on Wednesday.

“We have a standard of behavior that we expect from everyone in our program and we’re going to move forward with the people who want to abide by those standards,” OSU coach Mike Boynton said. “I wish the others well as they move on.”

Weathers, a transfer from Miami (Ohio), was averaging 9.2 points and 2.1 assists per game for OSU this season. Calloo was averaging 2.5 points and 10.7 minutes per game. Jones, meanwhile, was in the midst of serving a second suspension this season. Boynton said his status was up in the air earlier this week.

Jones and Calloo are both true freshmen.

Weathers had been in trouble earlier this season after allegedly stealing a wallet with contents, and faced felony grand larceny charges at the time. He worked his way out of the dog house recently, but sources tell PFB a more recent incident involving Weathers and the two newbies was the final straw for the talented trio.

The development is a blow to a team that had already been thin on depth. Just last week, graduate transfer Mike Cunningham and OSU parted ways mutually.

OSU now has only nine players in total on its roster for the rest of the season and seven scholarship players.

As a coach love Boyton for not messing around. Needed it.

I like boyton. seems like an affable guy.

Does OSU basketball have a culture problem? Is Boyton not enough of a disciplinarian? maybe he's too nice a fella? something I often worried about with Lon ... but Lon is so experienced that I think he gets past it in different ways.

It kind of smells like either failed drug tests or not going to class. Guess this solves their oversigning issue.

Wow! Don’t know why Boyton parts ways with these players, but he obviously made a tough call regardless of the circumstances. Gotta respect him for that.

I may be wrong, but I believe they are down to 7 scholarship players? Wow!

Weathers was playing well for them but perhaps he couldn’t keep his hands off things that don’t belong to him again.

yup...

unfortunately all PROBABLY got away with all kinds of crap in MS and HS (YES, I said MS...it starts there..I've seen it first hand).

Wish ALL coaches did it.

he should have led the team in steals...:woot

OSU men’s basketball is in an Awful spot. They are terrible and I don’t see it getting better. Boynton was a head scratcher when they brought him in on the cheap and IMO he is Not working out for them. I believe it comes back to you get what you pay for. Their AD went cheap and this is what you get, so glad Castiglione went big with Lon!

Rumor on the street is they were driving around town shooting at cars with BB guns. Not a smart thing to do, but WTF else you gonna do in Sheep bangerville.

They are down to 8 scholarship players.

They took the Morris twins airsoft gun fight to a whole new level...impressive

Ouch.

I am always a guy who wants to give young people a second chance and Coach Boynton did that. Don’t know what the kids did this time but I appreciate the way he applied his rules. Hope they all learn from it the right way this time.

They have not been terrible--but they may well be now.

The article quoted in the original post says seven players on scholarship -- is that not correct?

They awarded walk on Trey Reeves a scholarship a few weeks ago so he is technically the 8th scholarship player but he’s the worst player still left on the roster.
