OSU fans - you are still 13-14 and...

So you are now 14-15 and after tonights KU game and your road game at K-State you will be 14-17 and 7-11. Something to be proud of huh? LOL

Oh, and what about that butt whippin OU put on you. The trash that the Aggot fans that come on this board and talked in this thread alone is sooooo funny. They acted like they were "on the rise" - hmmm, the better team was easily OU the other night. Again, I am SOOO glad Ford is there for several more years - good job Holder.

I still don't think I'd trade programs at this point and that OSU has a much higher ceiling in the foreseeable future.

I don't hate OU right now though. Kruger hasn't had his "hell hole" moment and the OU players seem to be less bastardly than usual.

So you would rather have your 5 or 6 conference wins and be the only team to lose to 1-17 Tech over OSU's conference season that includes a top 5 win? Interesting.

Both teams laid a turd this year man, dont think you have any reason to talk noise other than to make yourself look dumb. Same with OSU fans.

Dig,

4 years in and finishing 3 games below 500. more power to you if you are ok with that. shoot, without page there will be no offense again next year in Stoolwater - don't count on recruits - there have been alot og McDonalds guys at OU and osu over the last 5 years and most have sucked - Just sayin.

Just started this thread because all the aggots were coming on here and shouting like their team was something - of course OU is having a tough year but we have a proven coach and Holder gave a 10 year deal to a guy who has done nothing - and the "programs" he has been at are little bitty babies - Lon has done it at K-STATE/ILLINOIS/FLORIDA/VEGAS. I don't think Ford has one program on his resume as good as Lon's worst.

This is sad. You would think that the way both teams are doing that trash talking or down grading either program would be obsolete.

Heres to the future...:woot

Ford's also been at it about half the time Kruger has. Let's be clear, Kruger has averaged 18 wins per year as a HC (the same as Ford) I'll throw out both coaches time at Cambellsville and Pan-American (both were successful rebuilds), If you look at Krugers time at K-State or Illinois, he didn't exactly light it up. He caught lightning in a bottle at Florida and left that program the same way he found it.

UNLV, Kruger did his best work. It caused OSU to look at him a few years ago and they went with the younger guy. FYI Ford's time at UMASS he had a better winning % than any of Kruger's stops other than UNLV.

MCDAA's - OSU has had Gerald Green, Byron Eaton and James Anderson...Green went straight to the NBA, but I wouldn't say Eaton or Anderson "sucked"

Personally, I think OSU needs a coaching change. I would not be happy if I were an OSU fan. I don't get the raise and contract extension that Holder gave Ford. I don't think he has done a good job at OSU. He has completely failed to build complete teams and is way to guard oriented. This season has been horrible for OSU. Given his contract and the fact he has Smart coming in, I could see giving him one more year but to this point I would say his tenure at OSU has been unacceptable. I find it very odd that Holder seems happier with Ford than Gundy. I would say Gundy has done an excellent job at OSU.

I aslo don't get the Ford vs. Kruger comparisons. I don't really care what either has done in the past. My evaluation of Kruger will be based entirely on what he does at OU. If he is not taking OU to the NCAA Trounament virtually every season within a couple of years then he is not the right guy for OU. I think Kruger's challenge will be in two years. I think OU will be improved next season but I am worried about he year after that.

1st year = 11-17
6th year = 12-16

Again, you said Kruger left Florida the same way he found it. He didn't, because Florida was on probation when he got there. Yes, he had a poor season at Florida in his last season there, but to say he left the program in the same state in which he got there is disingenuous at best

Agreed.

And that essentially puts a lot of pressure on the coaching staff to recruit well this upcoming season and for M'baye to be legit, Cam to be a senior leader and at least 2nd team All conference, and at least one of the 2 incoming freshman to at least be honorable all conference their sophomore year to sniff post season play.

Ford's also been at it about half the time Kruger has.

Nevertheless, Kruger won more NCAA games his first six seasons as a head coach than Ford has ever won.

No one is saying he's the greatest coach ever, but your implications that Ford and Kruger are on the same level are laughable.

Don't you know?! Taking a program to the Final Four doesn't matter in this discussion... Especially when that accomplishment took place at a beyond-abhorrent program fresh-off probation.

Sooooo... let me troll a bit :D

I admit that I am more of a college footballer than a college basketballer, but it seems that fans that are apologists and more lenient on tough times usually resort to the following excuses following a bad (i.e. lower than expectations or outright LOSING) season.

1- We were injured.
2- We were young.
3- We need to give the coach time to install his recruits/system.
4- We have unforseen circumstances that we weren't expecting to deal with.
5- We are making progress and are tons better than previous years.

Let's go through the excuse list, Sooner to Poke, shall we?

1- We were injured.
I don't think either of our teams have this excuse. We are both short-handed, but key injuries? Not really.

2- We were young.
We both have a senior that gets a lot of playing time, but I guess we can use this excuse... if this era of college basketball really leads people to expect players to stay four years, heh.

3- We need to give the coach time to install his recruits/system.
Unless you think that the system really will change a lot based on your shiny new facilities, this is probably where your fanbase's Ford angst begins and ends. He once took OSU to the Big Dance each season... then at least he got you a home NIT game. Now, are you even going to be playing this year after your Big 12 tourney ouster?

We probably aren't going to any postseason tournament either, but at least we can use this excuse... not that using excuses are fun. Excuses suck big time. Gaaaahhhh.

4- We have unforseen circumstances that we weren't expecting to deal with.

I know that OSU likes to think of itself a big ol' family, and not to offend you all in any way shape or form, but just like your football team couldn't use it as an excuse to lose to Iowa State, your basketball team cannot use the unfortunate deaths of Kurt Budke, his assistant and the two others as an excuse. Not that you are, but if it ever gets brought up, it shouldn't.

I know you also had someone quit/transfer on you, and wasn't there some court case during the offseason? Meh.

We had an untimely mid-season transfer, but other than that, we are still trucking along... I guess...

5- We are making progress and are tons better than previous years.

I think that this is what Sooner fans (at least me personally!) can say about this season. We were in games up till halftime when we run outta gas (or were drugged/poisoned/??? in the halftime locker room perhaps?) and the overtalented, saturated depth of our ranked opponent takes over.

You guys, on the other hand, probably expected an NCAA tourney bid, or at least to still be in the bubble talks at this point of the season. OUCH!

So... yeah. We both suck and we both know it. But, must say that our future looks brighter than yours, even if you have a brighter shade of orange.

Pistols firing! :D

If that's the impression you get from going from 9-1 to soon to be 14-15 in a few hours then more power to ya'. ;)

In all seriouness all we have are two crap teams and can do nothing but make predictions about what we think will happen in the future which is fun but rather meaningless, only time will tell for both us. I do think both programs will get back on track in the near future and hopefully this season of both being the suck is just an anomaly.

After Saturday we both get put out of our misery and can start looking forward to next season.

Tell me... how did it feel to dump Sean Sutton after years for a promising new hire in Travis Ford?

That's about how it feels for me right now.

I also am probably like a Minnesota fan after hiring Tubby Smith --- something like this: "The NCAA took our banners and our dignity after we broke too many rules. Just PLEASE get us back to the postseason every so often and we PROMISE to never get greedy again!"

I think many (myself included) took for granted all the years Kelvin got us to the Big Dance and got spoiled further by the big Blake run to the Elite Eight. Now, I just want to remember what it was like to watch the Sooners play in the Big Dance again. I don't need Final Fours, or 1-seeds or favorable placement as far as host sites. Just let us play in a postseason tourney in March that isn't put on by the Big 12 :(

And I think we're going to get back to March Madness before your guys. Not bragging, not crimson goggling over the fact that we went from 9-1 to wherever the hell we are now, I just think strongly that we are making steps in the right direction, while you guys are pointed the right way, but instead of going forward, are Michael Jackson moonwalking.

After going up, then down, I think we're on the way back up but of course I'm going to be optimistic about my team just like you would be with yours, just part of being a fan. Myself and the majority of OSU fans seem to be letting their jury still be out on Ford until the end of next season.

He has expectations he has to meet next year with the roster he's going to have and no longer playing just two guys that have 1 or more years of D1 experience in Page and Brown. If next season is a disappointment or there is no NCAA tourney, trust me, I will be grabbing my lantern and pitch fork and joining the mob.

Forget about what he does 2, 3, 4 years down the line...Its about what he does next year. We have an NCAA team next year...no ifs, ands, or buts about it. It will be an experience team with a lot of talented players.

It will be NCAA Tourney or bust...I don't care if we have 20 wins next season...if OU is not in the tournament, the season will be a failure.

And same goes for OSU...Their team is loaded and they have an NCAA team as well and if they don't make it Ford needs to be fired.

The only reason Ford still has a job is b/c of the talent that he is bringing in. But that same talent is also transferring. The 1st big class he signed have all transferred. OSU on paper next year is a top 10 team. Smart, Nash, Cobbins, Brown, Williams, and Olukemi...Top that off with Jurick(solid post defender), Williams(if he gets cleared to play), Guerrero(doesn't transfer), and even that Soucek kid has potential..they have a solid squad. No excuses for Ford...Tournament or get fired.
