SEC tourney setup is kinda crazy. OU would have to play 5 games in 5 days if we make the final. The top 4 teams would only have to play 3 games in 3 days. That’s quite a difference.

As a team that needs a win to make the tournament, it benefits us. Instead of probably going one-and-done against #3 seed Alabama, we get a competitive winnable game against Georgia.

This format benefits those at the top (rewarding them for a great regular season with fewer tournament games) while also benefiting those on the bubble by steering them away from the really good teams in the early rounds.

Hopefully St Mary’s disposes of Pepperdine tonight (semifinal). Last thing we need is a tournament winner like them when other conference teams (St Mary’s and Gonzaga) are locks. Also need Gonzaga to be San Francisco.
