Other College BBall Thread 2024-5

i want to know how much byu spent in nil this year and last.
They were near the top of the Big 12 last year. I’d imagine this year is similar. They’re also bringing in the #1 player in the ‘25 class and his total NIL package is around $7mil with $4.5-$5mil of that coming from BYU. I saw someone bring up BYU the other day on this board as a program they guessed had a similar payroll to OU & almost died laughing.

Egor Demin was rumored to have received between $1.5-$2mil alone. They’ve been spending.

18 and 14 games in conf.

Oweh not dipping near as bad as last year
In related news as Los is off to another fantastic start tonight, the broadcast crew just said, “this is a completely different player” than when he first got to Houston. I’m old enough to remember when some of our fans were mocking him a month into this season and arguing vociferously that he wasn’t getting any better under Sampson.

Sampson said he was like the most skilled guard they had coming in. That’s high praise from one of the best coaches in America. Him and Oweh completely crush the narrative that Moser hasn’t had talent to work with.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves and act like he is tearing it up. He essentially is the same player but shooting better. As a junior he is shooting it exactly like he did his freshman year and his other stats are the same as last year

He said “completely different player from Jan 1.” And I agree. He’s certainly played much better in conference play. He was terrible in their 3 non-conference losses against the only teams they’d played with a pulse at the time.

Haha ok. Because clearly he hasn’t improved from last season.

I don’t remember most say he’s never had talent. But I remember a lot of us saying he couldn’t coach it.

Some of Los’ games this year from a pts perspective: 2,4, 5, 8,8,8,8,9,9. He has played better as of late, but has by no means “tore it up” this year. His assist to TO ratio is very good, as you should expect playing on a top 5 team with good shooters. He has a career high of 22 tonight!

He’s a solid guard, but give me Fears any day. Fears is obviously gonna make some freshman (should be a HS Sr) mistakes, but has much more upside.

Moore has improved more year over year than either Oweh or Los.

The point is that you misquoted him in an effort to throw a shot at OU because that’s the type of BS you always do. You act like a preteen that wants to pot shot, complain, & argue so badly about everything that it compromises your objectivity. Now you’re complaining to the void about what people saw and were correct about. I just said I agree with Fran and he’s been good in conference play. He’s absolutely improved since last season. It’s also true that he was awful in their losses to Auburn, Alabama, & San Diego St.

The annoying part for me, and I’m sure some others, is that you want to heap praise on a player that quit on the program you supposedly support halfway through the season last year because you have such a raging hard-on for Porter Moser that you’d rather use it to trash everything related to the program than be objective about literally anything. Can’t call any of OU’s wins good because Wichita says they’re not. Can’t post the team showing up to Forsythe’s jersey retirement without a lame ass comment from Wichita hot on its trail. Every coach in America shits gold outside of Porter Moser & Dan Hurley. Weren’t you just praising Jerome Tang in this thread? That guy is a bad basketball coach and a fraud of a human with unlimited resources and a terrible basketball team. I freaking love the way Kelvin Sampson coaches basketball and don’t even want to touch the topic on here because Wichita’s going to turn it into a **** on OU party in about 5 seconds flat.

Wow sensitive much? Too much stupid to respond to but I will say it’s impressive that you’re a wise enough person to be able to discern Tang’s morality, given the fact that you almost certainly don’t know the man at all. If he is such a bad coach, maybe he can hire Moser as his assistant if he gets fired and has to take a job at a lower level eventually.

As for misquoting Fran, he and other announcers have said a million times this season that Uzan is significantly better and tougher than he was before transferring. And I didn’t criticize anyone for positing the picture of the jersey retirement. I commented on how laughable it is to suggest that something that every team and coach in America would do for a ceremony just down the road is a sign that the team and coach are still bought it, when the product on the court shows otherwise.

With respect to Los, if you want to say he quit, fine. I’d rather have Los a hundred times out of a hundred if the choice is between him and the guy flailing around the sideline losing us games with his crappy coaching.
