OU has offered Indian Hills Juco center D.J. Bennett

To say Neal needs to be a "bit" more consistent from 3 point range is the understatement of the year so far.

He had the same sophomore slump Clark had. I look for both of them to bounce back to their freshman form or better next year.

He shot .338 on the year making 23 of 68 three point shots. He had several rim out. If we call it 4 shots and they fall he shoots 39.7% from 3 point range on the season. 39.7% is quite good. Hollis Price shot 39% for his career at OU. Brent Price shot 40% for his career.

I would like to see him shoot above 35% on more attempts as a junior.

And if 4 of those made shots rim out he shoots 27.9%, a subpar percentage for a wing. I don't think using hypotheticals like that prove anything other than you're really reaching to prove a point

His percentage is a little misleading b/c he a) had such a small number of attempts, a few shots swings his average quite a bit, and b) had a couple of really good games early that also helped "spike" his average. Take away the two early games in which he went a combined 7 for 11, and his 3 point % for the rest of the season was 28%. No es bueno.

Yes and take away a few games in the middle of the season and it goes way up. His attempts was actually the second most on the team. Bottom line he shot 33.8% from 3 point range on a fair number of attempts.

You and I disagree on statistics all the time. One season is a pretty small sample size for most things. Context is needed. Yes, his shooting percentage for the season was decent. Also yes, he was WILDLY inconsistent with his shot most of the year, especially against Big 12 caliber teams.

For whatever it's worth, it appears MU is now recruiting Bennett, as well (no offer yet, but he recently said we're in his top three, along with OU and Arkansas).

I guess CJ Washington was a huge plus for us...bc it looks like we are bringing in/going after CJ 2.0

CJ > Arent

CJ was just fine for a 4th big man. Our problem is that he was our 3rd big man this year.

How do you know Bennett is a CJ double? Have you seen him play, or is this just one more of your routine digs at a Kruger recruit?

Time to quit hanging on to your favorite coach! He's not coming back.

I'd bet money on this guy being better than Washington.

If nothing else he's 2 inches taller and probably a much better athlete.

No way that can be right. bgrch1350 is absolutely certain that no Kruger recruit can be better than a player his favorite coach signed. ;)

I don't know about Kruger (he did sign Arent...), but I do trust Anderson's evaluations of junior college players.

Lol
well if I'm not mistaken...wasn't Washington 1st team all juco. And this guy isn't even the best post player on his own team. 7ppg...from a juco post player. And you think I should get excited about this kid?

You can continue throwing capels name out there but I don't have to wait until we get 5 games into the season to know that he isn't that good just like arent.

Washington was 1st team all juco and averaged 19ppg and 13rpg.

So then I guess you'll never be excited about another junior college player ever again?

Washington was small, slow and unskilled relative to Big 12 competition. His inability to translate to major college basketball has nothing to do with whether any other junior college players will be able to.

Obviously no one should expect a guy like Bennett to come in and be a star. But he's not doomed to sitting at the end of OU's bench because some other guy another coach signed met the same fate.

This shows your lack of insight into how All-JUCO teams are determined. I'm not saying Bennett is all world, but this is a really weak argument.

Repeat after me: JUCO stat lines mean nothing, JUCO stat lines mean nothing, JUCO stat lines mean nothing...

Strong argument is not a compatible term in bgrch1350's world. He takes wild shots from the hip, with no real facts or rationale when a Kruger recruit or player is involved. His latest gem is that if Blair is on the team next year, he'll get more minutes than Isiah Cousins.

I keep hoping bgrch1320 will come around and get on the LK bandwagon. He's a good poster when he wants to be. Guess he's still upset that Capel got fired and can't get over the fact that he is not our coach anymore. :facepalm

Oh I know, he loves him some Jeff Capel. Have been meaning to call him out on it (because it's dripping in evey one of his posts) but what good does that do?
