Did anyone happen to hear what Sherri said in the post-game interview? I'm curious to know how she justified this.

Teams expect to improve throughout the season. I think we were a better team in December than we are now.

And lets be honest. There were several AWFUL whistles

Officiating never entered my mind tonight. You should know that whenever Scott Yarborough calls one of our games, we will have several players foul out and give up 30 or so free throws to the opponent. So, I knew that was coming as soon as the officials were shown on the telecast, but I felt like we could win despite that if we played well.

Unfortunately, this team has struggled mightily to play well all year. I believe they will play at least one game fairly well before the year ends. Luck by itself can usually give you one good shooting night.

Time will tell, but getting into the tourney is becoming a tight fit at this point. We will be extremely lucky to win more than 2 more games the rest of the year.

HA. Norm, Im sorry- but u don't know a thing that you are even talking about buddy. You base everything you know about basketball on who lead the team in scoring that day, and thats as far as you get. We were up 8 when she was in. down 11 when she came out after two fouls. Y? She is the ONLY player that can run the high post in the zone, and I think in basketball- thats a pretty important player to have against a zone- NO? You tell me, your the expert. ha. she had 6 assists in 20 mins? not to mention 7 rebounds, to lead the way. We shot poorly. But Maddie is the most important player we have against a zone- and the refs took her out of it.

But- that was still embarrassing.

I hate to break the bad news but Maddie is not the next Breanna Stewart.

I hate to admit it, Norm, but you are just stating the obvious on that - although that North Texas fiasco happened in December. So perhaps we are actually just playing the same as in December - very, very poorly.

I don't mind reminding everyone. I told you so.

WE ARE NOT A GOOD TEAM.

Peyton spent a lot of time on the bench tonight and should continue to do so. Gabbi should be next.

Poor shooting continues. We have no mid-range game. Turnovers out the butt. Stupid fouls.

You can see it in the players eyes and effort. Sherri has lost this team, just like she did Morgan's senior year.

We need new ideas, new fire, better players, better recruiting and to
stop accepting poor play and poor coaching.

OK. I'll address this post since some are too far out there to be worthy of consideration.

Right now, we are not a good team. Strange. We were pretty good until January, one minor exception (the North Texas loss wasn't to a 1-21 team). Somewhere, something happened.

Peyton should spend some time on the bench, and Gabbi should join her. I think that the primary problem is here (although I'm not excluding Kay Kay). I think Sherri knew she had All-Conference second team performers and was expecting them to be first team. Peyton is in such a slump that she can't do anything right (not unlike her freshman year at A&M when she lost faith in herself). Gabbi seems totally unwilling to learn. She is making the same mistake over and over. How many bad passes or bad cases of dribbling did she have tonight? Right now, her bowling balls won't stay in the same lane.

But, we do have mid-range shooting. I take exception with that. Gioya has provided that. What we don't have is long range shooting and a reliable starting post.

The parts are there. Some of you act like every team had a great deal of super athletes. Wrong. What the good ones have is a group of six or seven who will play with some consistency and thought, limiting mistakes. Games are usually lost. I don't know how to get Peyton and Gabbi back into the realm of sound play. But, they are a part of the core (sorry, but Treece isn't ready). They have to play. Derica also has to quit making fifteen points worth of mistakes when she scores thirteen.

Yes, there were some rather unacceptable foul calls. But, this game was lost between the ears.

We can't forget they shot 50% from 3 on 20 attempts, and 30 free throws.... But at some point here, we need to look at our Defense and ask how we can get better.

Vivi and Kk are pretty interchangable and one of them is going to be in foul trouble anyway so I don't think it matters who starts. But TT Edwards needs to be playing 30-35 mins- Gabbi gets burnt more than anyone on the team. We HAVE got to quit relying on 3 pt shooting, get better defenders in the ball game and compete that way- because that is a consistent way to win. That is the reality. The athletes are there. TT. Goya. Vivi. Maddie are honestly as athletic as anybody at their position, but they need to be put in the right positions to succeed. Im feeling confident that maybe now, Sherri will make the change.

Except for the radio, Sherri virtually never does a postgame after a loss. I doubt a game like tonight will be an exception.

When she does she just says the opponent played great, and sometimes indirectly blames a player or two. Seldom by name though.

At the same time, what can you say after something like this?

I would be happy if she would just pick 5 starters, play them most of the game - together - and have maybe 2 others who come in to give a starter some rest. These kids never know who is in the game. I have never seen anything even similar to the subbing going on. And what she is doing does not work.

I have never once said that. I believe me and Syb said they have similar movements so she reminds me of her. Syb said pre injury she might of been a better prospect when comparing upsides.

I also said really early in the year that I think Maddie is a year away yet. But if YOU KNOW BASKETBALL NORM- Then you would realize its a great bet that a 6'2 player with an elite guard skill set, a smooth jumper and a HOF coaching staff- who has produced great players similar to her (Dales)--- is going to eventually put her at the top. BUT why I said next year is because she is still a very raw scorer, she trys to beat everyone with her athleticism still and that is not a consistent way to get the job done.

She almost brought us bk tonight w/ defense alone. If next year she isn't an all conference player though Norm, I'll first blame the coaching because there is not an excuse for that- and then I'll concede that I was wrong on her. None the less, she was the most important player to have on the court tonight, and the refs took her out of the game.

I see Vivi and Kay Kay as quite different. If we are against a weak team with a weak post, Kay Kay is better. Against a strong post presence, Vivi is the better performer. But, Gioya, T'Ona, and Maddie are our other athletes.

It might be interesting for some of you to go to the scouting report on OUInsider on Sterling Shepard. Two scouts give a glowing report of his abilities. But, what you might find informative is what they say about "athleticism." They showed a Baylor DE and said he is a great athlete, but relatively useless. They showed how he exhibited his athleticism. But, they also showed how he couldn't use it properly. So, was he an athlete or not? They suggested another prospect whose level of "athleticism" was far inferior, but whose "athletic flow" made him very effective on the field.

The idea is to be a basketball player.

I'm afraid we lose the next two games as well. We are hurting our seeding provided we do get into the NCAA tourney. Not to mention we will drop out of the top 25.

That's bad enough but I'm concerned the most serious issue is how this will hurt recruiting. Top players want to play with winners. That's not us.

O. Im w/ you on Vivi being better at this point as well. Our strongest lineup at this point is TT. Goya. Maddie. and VV. - If nobody is able to step at 2- Morgan Rich or Dungee will be there next season, and thats a pretty tough lineup a year from now. But this one isn't over. The lid could come of agasint Texas and we win by 15, I can't count on it yet. But that is absolutely a possibility. In the mean time, I would like to see a Defensive emphasis. 90 pts against KState? thats brutal man.

She did not come close to bringing us back but that's okay if you want to think that.

If thats the only thing you have to say after my comment then Im just gonna agree to disagree. Not trying to argue with you Norm, but there is a lot more to the game than scoring. and not having her in the game the whole first half against a zone was devastating.

She got within three with successive steals and assists, after making a shot herself. Went from ten to three in less than thirty seconds before Gabbi kind of ruined the momentum.

I'm not sure which way this season is going to go.
Sherri's a great coach she has salvaged/restored teams so many times.

Right now, this team looks to be lost and badly needs an overhaul.

We don't have a senior point guard.

Unless we just get massively lucky and Texas and WV can't hit anything both will drum us into the ground.

The real question is will we win another game this year? I see us as a possibility of beating Kansas and Tech. But both are on the road, so it is a virtual guarantee we will go into each flat as a pancake, just hoping they beat themselves (which is quite possible as weak as they are).

I will be pleasantly surprised if we beat Iowa State in Norman. They have the ability to hit lots of threes and they have not done much of that so they will be due when we meet. We will have a big number of turnovers and they are good at taking advantage of that. Plus we will have a huge problem scoring anything - as we always do. They have a male coach, and that always gives Sherri fits.

Thats exactly what I was getting at but, she didn't score 10 in a row so nobody noticed I guess. Idk. Its not a big deal. My underlining theme is I want to see defensive players, I want to see toughness, I want to start bullying ppl. They are great young ladies, they play hard and they are nice players- but Gabbi and Wyatt are not going to bully, or pressure anyone. They are a liability, they aren't shooting nearly their weight to make to up for it. And I think the sad thing is, we finally have the players that can do that to ppl, but they aren't playing. Its really starting to Disappoint me. Im thinking change is on the horizon however, or at least I would sure love to see it.
