Thought this needed it's own thread. Props to ouleopard on the scoop on this the other day.

@GoodmanESPN: Elite big man Marques Bolden (@MarquesB__) told ESPN he will visit Duke officially on Sept. 18-19. Also looking at UK, KU, Oklahoma and UNC.

Sure feels good to be in an elite bigs final five! I'll feel a lot better if OU wins one of these recruiting battles for a change. The last time we won, the player was the National POY recipient.

Seems to me we're due to repeat that feat!

Can't wait until we get into the season. We'll have a good mix of veteran play and improved overall athleticism from Buford, Odomes/James and Lattin. If we pull wins against some of the big names on our early schedule we can get into the spotlight quickly and show top prospects the opportunity they have. Bolden might be a long shot but we'll give him and others like him more to think about. And we'll pull a few of them.

We'll be exciting to watch. It might all be coming together for a nice run of Ws and recruiting.

You know me and leopard were on top of this! Come on now!

It'll be tough but folks are taking notice of the Sooners now. (See what I did there!)

Duke, KU, UK, UNC....That's good and bad company to be in. :ez-laugh:

Props to this staff for all their hard work.

This staff really has recruited at a higher level earlier than I thought they would be able to, if that makes sense. Very excited.

It shows when we get players like Kameron McGusty. He wouldn't have committed to OU 4 years ago. Just getting consideration from players like Marquis Bolden and Julius Randle is a big step forward. Those guys are NBA lottery picks.

We've had 2 straight Top 3 finishes in the Big 12 which some view as the top basketball conference. We made the sweet 16. Kruger and his staff are proving themselves and impressing recruits with their results on the floor, quality of coaching, and style of play.

In addition, the OU roster is full of high character student-athletes and a family-like feel to the program. Some recruits are perceptive enough to see this, and like it. Plus, Lon Kruger and his staff are not just competent, but they are really nice people. Combine this with the success on the court and good things happen on the recruiting trail.

Looks like we made Bolden's cut.

@EvanDaniels: Five-star center Marques Bolden cuts list to Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, Oklahoma, TCU, Alabama and Wake Forest, he tells Scout.

TCU?? I hope the Sooners are his choice if he wants to be near home.

I like our chances. He will be the man on a final 4 type squad. Not a big trip to get home or to have his family attend.

Final 4 squad next year? We are replacing our best 2 (Buddy and Cousins) for sure and best post player in Spangler.

Lots of everything to replace.

We have one of the slimmest chance of any of his final 8 IMO.

Alabama, Baylor, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Oklahoma, TCU and Wake Forest

Being recognized by these types of recruits is great publicity, but I just don't see us ever landing one if they aren't from the state and/or have a family connection.

I must be overly optimistic on Boldin being a star? I think there are a lot of the right pieces to surround him with if he is.
