OU Men tied for 2nd going into final day of NCAA Golf Championship

Wish I could edit the title. As SoonerTraveler and SoonerSports.com pointed out, there is match play after Round 4. I apologize for the ignorance. OU is a Gymnastics school.

http://www.ncaa.com/news/golf-men/a...pionship-eight-teams-remain-match-play-begins

SUGAR GROVE, Ill. –*And then there were eight.

Only the top eight teams through four rounds of stroke play are left standing on Memorial Day. That octet will face off in the match-play championship bracket.*Vanderbilt (-13) maintained its lead over the pack with a +5 performance on Monday. Six of the eight teams that qualified to move on to match play shot +15 or higher on the day.

As fans prepare for match play, the eight teams now left standing include: Vanderbilt, Oklahoma, Illinois, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Southern California, Baylor and UNLV.

if only we can move up in the horse judging we could be on par with OSU!

Baylor got off to a 2-0 start and was leading in two more. OU came back and was ready for a win: 2-2 with Baylor needing a birdie to tie on the last hole. Baylor chipped in for a birdie to tie Dalke. 2-2 with a tie.

Dalke won with a par on the first playoff hole. OU to semi-finals.

ok, so with all these NC's..ya'd think we'd be higher in the Sears Trophy (well, use to be called that)

At the one point during the quarterfinals, OU trailed in all five matches. Reinertson worked his way back from 3-down through eight holes versus Baylor's Garrett May. Reinertson grabbed the lead on No. 17 with a birdie to put the Sooners on the board. Hirschman, who was 3-down at the turn in his match against Baylor's Hunter Shattuck, sinked an eagle put on No. 18 to tie the match at 2-2.

Dalke battled back and forth with Perrine down the stretch to win the match for the Sooners in a sudden-death playoff. Perrine pushed the match into a playoff after chipping in from the fringe on No. 18, but Dalke kept his composure on the first playoff hole and buried a 6-foot putt to complete the comeback effort.

The win advances the Sooners into the NCAA semifinals for the first time in school history.

OU beat Illinois, 3 1/2 to 1 1/2 and will go against Vanderbilt or Oregon tomorrow for the championship.

Wow! When did we last get this close to a golf championship? Have we ever won one?

Yes, something like 89. This is the first time in the match play format. Pardon my ignorance about this. Golf is not my sport.
