OU Men tied for 2nd going into final day of NCAA Golf Championship

I was led to believe that it was over, Golf blog. It is tied on 18.

Now, Oregon won it on 18.

Sooners Clinch NCAA Championship Final Berth
For the first time in program history, OU will play in the NCAA Men's Golf Championship Final as the Sooners rolled past No. 3 seed Illinois, 3-1-1.

NORMAN – For the first time in program history, the Oklahoma men's golf team will play in the NCAA Men's Championship Final as the Sooners rolled past No. 3 seed Illinois, 3-1-1, on Tuesday afternoon at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill.

The Sooners picked up wins from Blaine Hale (4&3), Max McGreevy (2&1) and Rylee Reinertson (3&1) to earn the program's first-ever berth in the match-play final. OU will face the winner of the Oregon-Vanderbilt match in the final round, which will be televised live on Golf Channel starting at 3 p.m. CT. Tee times are set for 2:10 p.m. CT.

OU will look to win its second NCAA title in program history. The Sooners won their first NCAA Championship in 1989.

At Phil Knight's request, Gordon Reese of the Pac-12 has been named the head of officiating for the final round.

Sooners won in 89....were tied as runners up in 88. the current match play format began in 2009.

Oregon is the defending 2016 champion. Sooners made the quarterfinals/first round of match play last year.

I don't really know anything about golf, but it appears we got the first two points. Need one more to finish it off. Currently 3-1-1.
 
Here is my last attempt to jinx it before OU wins.
OU's Hale wins 4&3
OU's McGreevy wins 3&2
OU's Reinertson tied thru 15
OU's Hirschman down 2 thru 14
OU's Dalke up 2 thru 14

It's on the Golf Channel if anybody wants to watch the festivities...or the implosion.

RR got it back on the next hole. he's had a good match play. won both matches on Tuesday after being down 2 in each match early.

edit: and then i jinxed him. crap.

I almost never watch golf, much less collegiate golf, but I was streaming the final hour of today's telecast at work, and my heart was pounding when Dalke was about to attempt what proved to be the winning putt.

A very exciting win -- congrats to the Sooner men!
