Don't know if the link is to a premium or free article.

Basically, the Pac-10 is rumored to be ready to invite the six schools listed above and start its own network to rival with the Big 10 and SEC.

The article also mentions that A&M and OU may prefer the SEC.

Missouri's assumed to already have a foot into the Big 10.

Baylor, Nebraska, kansas, kansas state and Iowa State are apparently left out in the cold... unless the SEC wants to expand that far west/north.

I saw this article. Is that a credible site?

Nebraska and ISU to the MAC and KU, KSU and Baylor to CUSA. Problem solved

Rivals/yahoo is pretty credible.

I know they are in general, but I'm a bit more skeptical about the individual sites. I honestly don't know much about orangebloods.com. It is interesting though!

The author of the article is Chip Brown who is a known Texas homer and used to write for the DMN.

Yeah... sorry, forgot the link.

It is from a writer for the UT rivals site.

Interesting, it would allow the PAC-10 to lock up all the market west of Mississippi.

Why OSU over Kansas?

It does seem odd. KU is a member of the AAU and is better than TT in many aspects , athletically. It has to be political.

Another sign that college athletics is all about the money and forget everything else.
Would be sad to see the traditions of all these conferences go by the way side. Personally, I'd miss the KU/OU and KU/OSU battles that have been going on forever. The new KU/Texas rivalry. The Border War KU vs Mizzou.
What would happen to OU/OSU bedlam series if OU goes to the SEC and OSU goes to the Pac-10. The classic Texas/OU football games gone by the wayside. Sucks if you ask me but I'm sort of a purist. And I hate these super conferences like the Big East with all these teams that they don't even all play each other home/away every year. I miss that from the old Big 8 teams. I'll get off my soapbox.
Like I said it's all about money.

Would you say that, like the CEO of a for-profit corporation, the primary responsibility of athletic conferences is to generate revenue?

According to the article, Texas A&M is reluctant. Who gets that spot if they balk?

In today's world of college athletics I would say yes, that is what the conference and the institutions are concerned with...how much money they can make.

Most athletic departments don't make a profit.

Coaches and administrators will make a lot of money from these deals, and a lot will go toward facilities, but ultimately it does benefit the student-athletes, and without these sorts of deals a lot of scholarships would probably be cut for non-revenue sports.
