OU should be a lock now

This. The seeding that the committee released had NOTHING to do with what the polls reflected at the time, just like the actual bracket has nothing to do with polls. But again, lots of folks don't like letting facts get in the way of a good argument!

being naive if you don't think the committee looks at the polls. Especially early in the year

First off -- did I say they don't "look" at the polls? I said the polls don't influence their decisions, and the facts support that. For all of you who think they just rubber stamp the polls, how do you explain the fact that they had Michigan State as a 3 seed even though they were ranked second in the country the next day? And KU was listed as a 2 seed and their sixth overall team even though they were 13th in the polls, while Tech was a 3 seed even though they were ranked well ahead of KU. Go back and look at their initial bracket and tell me again how closely it lined up with the polls. Just because it did with respect to OU doesn't mean that's why OU ended up there.

KU, MSU...OU. One of these things is not like the other.

Also, how is mid-February "early in the year?" Season is over 75% complete by that point.
it's all relative. It was early in the year in the grand scheme of things....b/c I lot was still going to change.

Just like when OU was ranked 4th in the country, it was early in the season (yet in reality the season was half over)

February is the second month of the year

really? ok, bball starts in Nov, games over Thanksgiving...Nov 23 to Dec 23- 1 month, Dec 23 to Jan 23 -2 months, Jan 23 to Feb 23 - 3 months.

Reg season over early March (3 weeks later) March Madness over mid April.

So, YES...season is at least 3/5ths over...

*unless ya just being a smarta$$...then yeah, Feb is "early in the year"... ;-)
