OU-Stanford

This loss is on the players. It has been a while since I saw a team play a good first half then come out for the second and just forgot all about fundamental basketball and have no desire to win. A fourth year junior who has no idea where she is on the block and can't make lay-ups. That is inexcusable. I can't believe how many "chippies" we blew in the first half and continued on in the second. Hope they work on positioning, awareness, and using the glass properly over the spring, summer and early fall. A lot of talent, but desperate need for fundamentals drilled into their heads.

Over all a pretty nice season for a young team. They will take their losses and learn what it takes to get them to the next level. I have confidence in their abilities and talent, hopefully we will see a well seasoned and solid fundamental team next season with even more success than this year. Proud of their accomplishments this season, with a well earned second place finish in the Big XII and the awards to our players. Next year should be fun.

Oliver you nailed it!!!

Yeah I'll get it she just supposed leave her me underneath her OWN basket for a wide-open layup

Yeah- I do agree with that one a little more. Either way you- I saw a lot of easy buckets surrendered. You don't just go away from someone that can score and create turnovers like Maddie..... That was foolish IMO.

I'll say I think the biggest difference was this was a young team on the Road in the tournament. Thats just really not fair.

And the last solid fundamental team you saw here was? Sorry folks but you all talk about it every year!

As usual after a loss, our players and coaches have more class than our fans.

A very young team learned an important lesson today. It wasn't about defense or offense. It was about the importance of keeping your focus in all your games and getting that top 4 seed so you can play at home. Home cooking is the best cooking.

I don't think you are getting the message. Maddie was the only backside protection as they drove past us once again, primarily because we had some people who were tired and had some fouls, and they didn't want to foul, and Maddie had a choice, protect against the obvious layup or remain out for a three. The odds on a layup are probably about 80%. The chance on the three is around 40%. Now, which decision do you make?

As far as the season, I'm proud of the staff and players for what they accomplished this season. They made a lot of progress.

Sherri has a strong team that can develop -- and it's only going to get better the next two years, particularly if we can land Cox, Holmes, et. all

+1

Actually it wasn't.
She had to stop the ball. it was 2 on 1 and she gave up the 3

Go back and look at it on replay. She was inching to center court - planning to double team in the middle - a player KK was already guarding.

She kept edging in until Stanford had no choice but to toss it to a player with no defender within 30 feet.

I think it is a strategy Sherri apparently teaches. It happens all the time and has for 2 years. It nearly drove me crazy last year.

Until we find another plan for playing 3 point shooters in the corner we will be getting hit with that same thing for the foreseeable future. Let's hope she thinks it through and plays that like most other coaches do.

It happened 7 times today. That was a big part of the reason for all the 3's from the corner. Yes that girl is a good shooter - but that is all the more reason to get out there on her.

You're right, fundamentals, or lack thereof, are talked about year after year. Honestly, I don't expect a change next year either.

KK got in foul trouble...so she couldn't defend the drives to the bucket and our guards couldn't stop them from driving.

I wish the refs would have called the screens at the ft line that Stanford used all night.

And I thought maybe T'ona should have got to play more in the second half; I thought she played great in the first half.

Next year.

I watched a little of Geno's practice the other night. I don't know what it was; but he was riding his girls hard. I remember him telling one of his girls not to trot down the floor on defense; RUN!

Maybe next year we'll play a little smarter. We have lots of talent but need a little more discipline.

Great year but should still be playing.

Recruiting is the only thing that can get us back to the final four. I hope Cox is the next one who commits to the Sooners.

This is pretty much it. I was a bit disappointed that we seemed to lose focus in the second half, but I think we had the wrong focus for the entire game. We were not effective inside, and we killed our momentum trying to go inside, only to miss a layup----time after time. Notice that once those layups meant nothing at the end of the game, Kay Kay could make them. Emotions. She is all about emotions.

I was pleasantly surprised by T'Ona. I was very surprised that Peyton never got anything going, short or long. She was one that I did expect would at least play her game, and she lost it more than maybe anyone. Even the other things that she does she did not do.

But, we played like a team with some talent that hasn't figured it all out yet. We lose one player, two next year. As Sherri remarked on her show recently, she has four years with some of these. I think Sherri made one mistake today. She has so much confidence in Kay Kay that she kept trying and trying to get her over her emotions. Kay Kay let her down by getting that third foul in the first half. And, she still couldn't hit a layup until it didn't mean anything any more. I'm glad that Kay Kay has a summer to work with Vivi and McKenna. Maybe, they'll get it right. Courtney and Nina Davis are the only big girls that seemed great as freshman in this area.

Yeah. I mean, I'll give him that one a little more cause she MIGHT have jumped out a little too early- But she was still guarding two players???? lol Ether way- how do u go away from arguably our most dynamic offensive weapon- (who scored 15 in 20 mins the previous game) at a point in the game when there was no offense at all????? Im completely lost on that one.

I think those runs just felt a lot bigger than they were because they were at home- w/ The pressure of the tournament hanging over our head. We ended up panicking from the top down. Its not easy to go to a good teams court and win without one game elimination- this was just 10x more difficult. Unfortunate how it had to be that way, would of loved that game on a neutral court.

As good as she was for so much of the year, frankly, I'm fed up with Kay-Kay and her playing stupid and not being able to settle down in games.

I like ViVi a lot better. I'd start her next season and tell Kay-Kay that you have the summer to get better, to go back and watch every game from this season over and over again until you learn not to make those ticky-tacky fouls. You were a big part of the reason we lost in these critical junctures. Pull it together or sit on your behind.

It worked briefly once before. Maybe she can pull it together.

Frankly, I'd give Maddie the same exact orders.

Yeah. She was in perfect position for weak side help. She was the only that could stop the layup. The real breakdown was at the top on the pick and roll- Maddie had nothing to do with it.

Enless the game plan was to stay on the Shooter- which judging by the reaction of coach and Maddie it was not.

o the three she played perfectly.

The fast break layup she could have layed back maybe- But was still in a 2 on 1. Idk how u say she gave up the layup??? but it doesn't matter.
