OU vs. Iowa State

We just don’t have the talent. My starters for the rest of the season are Murcer, Pellington, Llanusa, Robertson and Williams.

Yeah we give up height, but we have to pick our poison..

I don't think Robertson is a starter. I would throw Lampkin in there because she has the athleticism and the height. Robertson is not athletic enough to get open for that three point shot and it has proven by her production in Big 12 play. I think next season when we have Gregory on the perimeter we will have more production around this time of year. Maybe Robertson will commit herself to her fitness and she will be a more valuable asset for us by this time as well. I just hope that Scott is as tall as everyone says she is at 6 foot 2 and not given an extra 3 in in height like Williams obviously is I also hope that bloom is if anything at least a good shooter because she will be hard to guard with her height. I see potential in this team for next season but there were so many times that we could have made a run and our defense was just pathetic, leaving their players wide open! Definitely need to work on our perimeter defense in the offseason, maybe more athletic talented players coming in will help that. It was good to see Pellington score some points today, still sad that we couldn't play better. Just don't have the talent right now

Nice halftime adjustments by Sherri & Colton

It's hard to make any kind of adjustments at all when you just don't have the talent to make any. That said Sherri & Co. are in this situation of having no height or overall talent that is required to compete in the Big 12 becuase of poor stubborn recruiting and non development of this team over the season.Go Sooners!!

I hope Anna keeps on this role as far as scoring goes. Eventually other players will catch up and I think maybe we can pull off a couple upsets, fingers crossed. I definitely think Oklahoma State, Tech, and maybe TCU or West Virginia are winnable but we've got to stop throwing the ball away. For sure Tech and Oklahoma State are winnable in my opinion. maybe we can pull off an upset in the tournament leaving us with a total of nine or 10 wins for the season, I'd be a little more content with that....what's everyone else think? Can we even win another game?

Predictions for our season record?

While anything is possible, it seems highly unlikely we win again this year. For one thing, it is almost a certainty that all our opponents will shoot between 45% and 90% on threes. Like today - one of ISU's players had hit exactly 1 of her last (mostly open) 3 point shots. Today? 67%. It has become the norm. Iowa State hit almost 50% on 3's today. Everyone does that against us this year. If one of our upcoming opponents decided to shoot 25 threes with their back turned and their eyes closed they would still hit about 50% of them. Those odds will catch up sometime in the future - maybe next year. We will see.

Guys, I have watched just about every game this year and the last two games I have seen a lot of improvement with our young ladies. That said I don't think this gets SC off the hot seat, my concern going forward, including next year is the lack of height. When the tallest girl you can put on the floor is 6'1", after this year, then you will have a lot of problems with teams who have "big" inside and all of that is on SC.

I agree 100% to both previous comments. If only we could get another Vivi type of player to add. Shouldn't be that hard, you would think. I have a feeling we add one more to this incoming class, probably in desperation to salvage next season. Either that or Lampkin, Williston and Bloom better work their tales offthis summer. Almost feel Lampkin could play wing with her shot, it's a sweet looking jumper, IMO... When she has more confidence she could be a really good player for us.

I cannot tell you how good of a scorer or shooter she will be in game conditions but I have made it t LNC about 1.5 hours before tip to watch the subs shoot. Both nights Bloom was deadly in warmups from 1-15' from wing to wing. She didn't shoot enough different shots to assess how much diversity she has in her shot selection.

Actually the shot 33% 11/33 BTA. For the season they are shooting 34.3% 235/686. They average shooting 29.5 3's/game. The 'clones actually shot below their season average BTA on about 10% more 3's than their norm.

Sorry I confused you. I meant almost 50% from the field. Actually 47.9%. That is an excellent shooting day.

Absolutely but the 'clones are a very good shooting team averaging 46% from the field for the season. Shooting 1.9% above their season average is not exactly a blazing hot shooting night for ISU. In reality overall they had a fairly average shooting night. Slightly above average from the field and slightly below average BTA.

I see the continued quality shooting by opponents from the field and BTA as primarily a result of poor Sooner defense.

Bingo.

I think Pellington needs to be a starter because she is the only one besides Ana who makes anything happen offensively.

She scores and pushes the offensive action.

Yeah, she’s not good defensively - but who on this squad really is— no one, that’s who.

I haven't seen a lot of the games this year, but have read lots of comments about Pellington being prone to playing street ball, dribbling into the paint and subsequently being a turnover machine. As a result, I have read that she has earned a place in Sherri's doghouse and lots of bench time.

Yet I am reading that now Oliver thinks that she needs to play. Why? Has her game improved that much, based on a productive night against the Cyclones?
Not being argumentative, just asking a question?

Looking forward to seeing Sherri/player press conference comments when OU video is put up - if they put one up.

As I said, Shaina has her faults defensively and even offensively, but (also as I said) she is the ONLY ONE besides Ana that can make things happen.

I should have also added Williams to that. She can make things happen too.

We need three productive scorers on the floor as much as possible.

Going into the season I was sure we would get consistency from Ana, Shaina and Williams and therefore be actually a pretty formidable team. Obviously not the case. I am anxious to see how different a player Williams is next season from this season, hopefully she develops which is never guaranteed under this program. I hope Shana does come back and has ironed out some kinks and I hope Ana continues to play like she's playing + Scott Gregory and Bloom and an improved Mercer and Robertson and we should be right back up there winning 15 games a season... haha

We got to get more than 3 points apiece from Tatum and Taylor!!! We need some offense!!!!
