OU vs KU Game Thread

We won a road game in the Big Twelve! It was the first Big Twelve road game for:

Maddie (didn't play)
Peyton
Gabbi
Vivi
McKenna
LaNesia

It wasn't always pretty but it's a win. Still perfect in conference play, can't get any better than that!

Any idea on turnovers???? I thought the girls did pretty good on that front.

Solid, steady game. Loved how we played defense. Loved how we hit the boards. Felt like we really cut down the turnovers, but I'm not sure. Quality of opponent may have had something to do with that.

We seem to be getting the act together. If we get a night when everyone is hitting, lookout.

Looks like Edwards is solidifying a role as the 1st point guard off the bench. She has had a very solid last couple of games.

Carter is really, really feeling it the last three games.

Nice win!

Probably the best defensive game the Sooners have played in a long time. Excellent pressure on the ball, outstanding help side defense, and switching on the floor. Kaylon played solid, no slaps at the ball, holding her own, though I thought she flopped a little too much. We looked liked we enjoyed rebounding tonight and awarded ourselves 13 offensive boards. Only 4 turnovers in the second half.

We did not help ourselves from the free throw line, but we at least got there a bunch. Gabbi was "ice" in the final two minutes and ripped the chords beautifully. I would have loved to see Maddie and Derica on the floor, but it looks like Sherri is settling in on her ten for now. No Vivi tonight either.

Nice to be 2-0, Gioya looks like she is finding her rhythm and I like that fine. We have so many options on the floor and on the bench, I hope we are turning the corner and finally finding our identity on the court. It sure would be nice to be 3-0 after Saturday with a good chance of beating the Horns at home. Looks like they struggled a little bit against WV.

I wish Sherri would turn up the defensive pressure. Nobody standing flat-footed while on defense....playing like their hair's on fire. Enough depth to spell players when they start getting tired. I can't tell that the offense falls off that much when the backup guards are in....jmo.

Another good game by Carter. She is playing much smarter. Just has to learn to not dribble the ball off her foot. Also needs to use movement without the ball and screens to get more offensive opportunities. Teams will be looking out for now and she is going to find it harder to get open looks.

Little moved a lot better tonight to get open shots. And a world of difference in confidence.

KayKay needs to learn to play both halves. Zero first half strong second half. Again.

I think Gabbi has good shooting ability but she really needs to improve her fundamentals. Her shots look like someone just learning to shoot. Better game from her tonight on both ends.

Another ho hum game for Sharane. She looks like a shell of her former self.

Not much second half time for LaNeshia Williams after a strong first half performance.

Kornet looked a llittle lost out there. I expected at least 20 a game between her and Sharane and we are not getting much from them lately.

Still lacking consistent offensive flow.

Defense was spotty but good at times. We are giving up far too many wide open treys. Partly because of 1) We are playing way too far off the offensive players and don't have time to get back. 2) We are over committing of help defense. When guarding a good shooter you have to check on help defense at times and recover quickly. That will often cause them to stop or at least hesitate. 3) We allow too much side to side movement of the ball.

Good win. Especially for a young team on the road. Carter's emergence has really given us a lift. I would not have been suprised to see us 0-2 rather than 2-0 at this time. Now we need to get Kornet and Sharane going and get some productivity from Maddie.

Officiating was pretty poor. They need to take a class to learn the difference between football and basketball and get an introduction to what a charge is.
