Not gonna be an easy game for a young team early in the season (game is on December 11th), and I bet ORU will come in thirsty for this one in front of about 5,000 fans in Norman... They are a pretty talented mid-major this year. Its July and I am already worried about ORU beating OU in Norman, lol.

Here is how they will look:

PG: Hunter McClintock (6'2'' 180- RS Freshman)- Regarded as one of the finest shooters in prep school basketball, McClintock shot better than 58 percent from three-point range at Patterson. McClintock helped lead Patterson to a national No. 1 ranking and 34-3 overall record last season, averaging 11.2 points and 5.3 assists per game. He finished his high school career ranked second in North Carolina high school history in career three-pointers (366) and career free throws (534).

SG: Warren Niles (6'4'' 175-Sophomore)- •Summit League All-Newcomer team (2010) •CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Freshman All-American (2010).. holds school freshman record for single-game scoring with 39 points..averaged 12.8 points while playing in 32 games (18 starts) … started the season’s final 16 games … also averaged 3.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game … his season scoring average is the ninth-best by a freshman in ORU history.

SF: Dominique Morrison (6'6'' 190- Junior)- CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Freshman All-American (2009)..First-team All-Summit League (2010)....Summit League All-Newcomer team (2009)...Led ORU in scoring (15.3 ppg) on his way to first-team All-Summit League honors … also averaged 5.1 rebounds and a team-high 2.6 assists per game (85 total) … ranked among the Summit League top 10 in scoring (6th) and free-throw percentage (8th, .833).

PF: Michael Craion (6'5'' 205-Senior)- Summit League Newcomer of the Year (2010)..Second-team All-Summit League (2010)...Summit League All-Newcomer (2010)...Named Summit League Newcomer of the Year after averaging 13.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game … ORU’s first Newcomer award winner since Ken Tutt in 2004 and just the third in 13 seasons in the league … also named second-team All-Summit and to the Summit All-Newcomer team … shot .508 from the field, including .545 in Summit games … ranked among league leaders in rebounding (4th), field goal percentage (6th), blocks per game (10th, 1.0), blocked shots (10th, 32) and double-doubles (4th, 8) … scored 20 or more points six times ..

C: Damen Bell-Holter (6'9'' 245-Soph)- Turned in solid freshman campaign … served as the primary big man off the bench one of five players to appear in 33 games …averaged 7.7 points and 6.0 rebounds over the final three games.. averaged 28.5 points, 17.1 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 4.2 blocks as a senior in high school ... led the Kings to a No. 1 state ranking and regional runner-up finish in 2008 ... averaged 30.2 points, 9.7 rebounds and 5.4 blocks and a junior with a season-high of 41 points ... ESPN/Scouts, Inc. lists Bell-Holter as the 66th-best center in the country..

and 2 other guys...

I like OU to win even though i have no clue how good they will be...

Size in this game wont be and issue as it will with most matchups...

ORU has been horrible lately. If OU can't beat a middle of the road summit league team who loses conference tournaments in their own home town, OU is in major trouble.

I bet they win the Summit League easily this year....

Although I also believe OU will come out on top, ORU is no slouch. We have Dom Morrison returning and Tim Morton coming off of injury whom in my opinion is better than DBH. If we come to play, its not going to be an stroll in the park.

Didn't ORU beat or almost beat KU a couple of years ago? Personally, I think that Scott Sutton "might" be the best coach in the state.

OU will be a very young (in experience) team when we play ORU. If we do drop that game, it will mean exactly squat -- nada, nothing, zip, zilch -- for the rest of the season--unless you're suggesting we'll be as good a team in early December as we will be in late February, that there will be no growth whatsoever over the course of those nearly three months. In that case, then yes, a loss to ORU would be quite telling.

Yep. They beat them up in Lawrence at the very beginning of the 2007 season.

That was one of his three NCAA tournament teams.

I don't know if Scott Sutton is the best coach in the state, but he's certainly done a great job at ORU.

Consider that he's taken them to the NCAA tournament three times... that's more than Bill Self ever did while he was coach there.

ORU was independent when Self coached there, though. Which would make an NCAA tournament appearance darn near impossible.

Marchello Vealy had the game of his life, and then kind of disappeared after that.

lot of difference from a team with Tutt, and Caleb Green than from this ORU team.

Bigabd you know we didn't expect anything different. Do you have any games that you think we will win? That would be interesting. I assume you already know our non-conference schedule. BOOMER SOONER BABY!!!

I'll admit that Morrison is alot better than anything OU has. However, that's about as far as I'll go. Also, the "Scott Sutton is a great coach" line is a little played out in my opinion. If he were so great, he would have gotten a high major offer by now.

It's an in-state game, against a Sutton, who has a team with a couple of mid-major all-americans and all-conference players, plus a very good prep school pickup at point guard. They wont be a pushover, and it's an interesting game for OU in early December.

I never said that ORU will beat OU, not once. If you want to make a thread about how OU will win every game they play (which you do), go ahead, I will post in it.

Take care,

Big
