OU vs saxet Wednesday 8pm CST ESPN2

I'm not qualified to be a coach (by a long shot), but I'd like to see Coach Kruger tell the guys no three-point shots in the first three minutes. It seems like every game (and the start of too many seconds halves) we come out settling for shot after shot from behind the line for the first 10 minutes and too often, we're missing 90% them, thereby digging ourselves a hole.

I agree. It seems like a simple problem to solve but it continues every game. I don't get it.

This is certainly a winnable road game.....along with road games at Iowa State, OSU, K-State, and TCU. The Big 12 isn't quite as strong at the bottom of the conference this year as in previous years. Need to get a few of these scalps to theoretically offset any potential home losses....it's never bad to have some wiggle room.

Kenpom Big 12 rankings:
KU - 2
Baylor - 10
WV - 16
Tech - 22
OU -48
OSU - 49
TCU - 50
Iowa St. - 55
Texas - 68
KSU - 87

Need to get one of these two road games this week. Failed to get a split when we went to WSU and Creighton for two straight last month, can't let that happen again if we want to end up in the next tier behind KU, Baylor, and WVA. As badly as we struggle at ISU, Wednesday's game feels like the better bet.

G- Courtney Ramey --- averaged 11
G- Matt Coleman --- averages 12
G- Andrew Jones --- averages 11
F- Gerrald Liddell (6'8'' 200) --- averages 5
F- Jericho Sims (6'9'' 240) --- averages 9

You've got be kidding me Texas.... all those resources, all the recruiting, all the 4 and 5 stars, and this is what you have?

Texas puts guys in the NBA fairly regularly, but this team is a joke considering they are the University of Texas. The coach should be fired for this.

These guys scored 44 points against Baylor... 46 points against Providence.. Got their ass kicked by Georgetown... 60 points on A&M... 62 on California.

I am not sure these guys can score with OU... They don't have any good size, average at best shooting. It's at home, and I am not saying it's going to be easy, but it's just bizarre to me how Texas has a team like this.

They don't seem more talented than OU or anything.

Zone the bejeesus out of these guys. First one to 60 wins.

Having seen about 7-8 Texas games this year (I have the LHN)....they have absolutely no identity on offense once again (and now for several years for that matter). They've played three "decent to good" teams this year and they've been blown out by two of them. As you mentioned, they have a talented, but poorly constructed roster. They don't shoot it well, don't rebound particular well, and they are awful at getting to the line. They only get 12 points from the FT line per game....that's #346 in the country. Compare that to OU....we get just over 21 points per game from the FT line (#65)

So how in the hell have they won 10 games?.....their non-con SOS is 261....that's why. Texas has to win games by playing good defense at a slow pace and turning you over in bunches.

Shaka is a good recruiter, but a very poor manager and in-game coach. I hope he stays there forever.:D

Because they're not scoring points in bunches? I know, it's easy to equate talent with scoring and lack of talent with lack of scoring. But that's a bit simplistic. Texas' players were all ranked 20-65 nationally. So don't fool yourself into thinking they're not talented because they're not scoring. Same for our players.

Great scouting report. One thing we have done well is take care of the ball. Sounds like we should have a very good chance if we do that Wednesday. The past few years, it seems like Texas always has one guy who will hit some threes against us in Austin. Time to reverse that trend.

I am saying they have a weak schedule, got blown out a few times, don't have anyone averaging more than 12 per game, don't even any clearly great player, and the roster doesn't look very well put-together.

I am not thinking this Texas team can score with OU... and Manek/Doolittle are a bad matchup for Sims and the other guy. OU guys will pull them away from the paint, they don't have any recognizable offensive ability to take advantage of Manek or Doo, etc..

It doesn't look like a good matchup for Texas. They have 3 guards who are kinda small and don't produce a whole lot. I would argue Reaves might be their best guard. Think about that.

I think you're confusing terrible coaching with lack of talent.

yea I don't think the coaching is good either, and the roster isn't constructed well... Both of those things also should be considered in this game.

So we are saying the coaching is bad
The roster isn't well constructed
The talent isn't being effectively utilized
They have no productive depth (neither does OU)

These things don't bode well for Texas.

You prolly shouldn’t watch then

As Doc Holliday would say, that is one helluva thing for you to say to me. I just gave an honest assessment of what I thought OU’s chances are. Of course, I’d love to be wrong. Don’t be such a titty baby. Are opinions no longer allowed on this board?

I can see OU losing by 15. I can see OU playing well, leading the entire game, and losing at the end by 1. It’s hard to win there, hard to win on the road in the Big 12. I just can’t see this team sustaining anything enough to win. Again, I’ll be elated to be wrong. Not since Hield’s crew did we really have a chance there.

Opinions are becoming less and less welcome. I will state, as I believe I have done before, that it seems like one group of posters is attacking the other groups opinions, but I don't see Group B attacking the opinions of Group A.

Pretty much every time I post something that group B doesn't agree with, people in said group claim (falsely) that I am "arguing just to argue." So it definitely goes both ways.

As for me, I don't mind opinions. What I don't like is when people who populate an OU message board seem to like every team in the Big 12 more than they like the Sooners. Certain posters look for reasons to compliment teams like ISU, TCU, OSU, KSU, etc., while doing nothing but complain about our team. Are they free to do so? Of course. Are the rest of us free to point out how annoying that is? Also, of course.
