OU vs texas 1:00pm CST on ESPN+

NIT bound. We just can’t win close games against good teams. Another game where we led late and can’t close it out. Not blocking out, running awful offense, getting beat to loose balls, and inexplicably not having the ball in Grant’s hands for long stretches of the second half.

Yep....we have mastered the art of losing close games to quality teams. Is this all we are ever going to be under Moser?....so sick of this. Beat a good team for gawd sakes.

texas not getting to 7 fouls is all you need to know about the second half refs

This is so lame. The refs weren’t bad. They let a LOT of contact slide from us. Tanner probably should have fouled out on the over the back rebound.

I mean I like Porter but this always happens. Piss down our leg against good teams. In college basketball, even if they are better it's the home team that should make the plays. It is what it is. Very disappointing against your rival, too.

I also thought they let a lot go on BOTH sides. Very physical in the paint.

not winning vs a top 6 team great take

Come on, Boulder. It’s a fact that we have lost almost every close game we have played against good teams during Moser’s two years. We don’t execute late, we turn it over, we make silly mistakes. He’s not complaining about one loss to a great team. He is commenting on a trend that is undeniable. Almost every team in this league is really good. You have to beat some of them, and playing at home against a team missing its head coach, is a great opportunity. Alas

This is who we are right now. We can play you tough but we can’t make the plays when needed to beat you. This loss stings. You wonder where we are going to get a road win to make up for it and you wonder how many other home losses like this we will see.

Welp... before conference season, I had this one marked as a loss anyway along with also getting swept by KU. So in order to get to at least 8 wins, we needed to sweep a lower tier team. Frankly, I don't know who that would be right now....sigh.

Any offensive play that doesn’t run through Sherfield is a mistake

The offense scored pretty much every possession the last couple minutes. But the defense couldn't get a rebound. They had like 3 shots at it that one possession that was killer after that it was all free throws.

Yep, and we went the majority of the second half doing just that. And then when we put it in his hands late, after we were down, he scored three relatively easy baskets. I have no clue what Moser is thinking. I understand you may want to let him play a few possessions off the ball from time to time to take some pressure off him, but to have him go 17 minutes with very few shots and lots of time off the ball is coaching malpractice.

We're 10-15 in games decided by 10 points or less under Porter. If those were all big 12 teams, I wouldn't feel bad, but it also includes:

South Alabama
East Carolina
Utah State
Butler (when they weren't very good)

Last two minutes of each half is his kryptonite. Against Big 12 teams, we are 5-10 in games decided by 10 points or less...That's the difference between two trips to the NIT and two trips to the NCAA tournament.

Exactly

Can’t win a close game. Seems like a pattern. Sucks.

What about the rest of the game?

It’s like we can’t put everything together for a game, or even a half. We took better care of the ball in the second half, but got killed on the glass and beaten to pretty much every 50/50 ball.

Joe Bam and CJ being this unproductive is such a killer. It’s hard to imagine that the two guys who came into the season expected to be your main 2-guards are giving you truly nothing. Looks like a completely lost season for both because unless someone gets hurt, I can’t see either of them getting back into the rotation. It’s not like we will have any games where we can experiment.
