5 of 8 losses to legitimate top 15 (or better schools) and 4 of those away from home. Iowa State and Arkansas are a combined 29-1 at home.

The only bad loss is to Stephen F. Austin, which is 21-3.

While I would like to have 3 or 4 of those back (Arkansas, SFA, KSU @ home and @OSU), can't fault us for any of those losses except SFA.

I'm still holding firm that if we get to 11 wins in conference, we'll be in the tournament.

Yep, lost again today (the third loss). Still amazes me some folks tried to say that wouldn't be a bad loss.

A positive though is that Baylor lost again today. If we take care of business, we're likely to finish in 5th place at worst, ahead of Baylor. I think that would make OU Dancing a pretty good possibility.

SFA could easily be in the tournament in March and then it won't be a bad loss.

I'm still amazed that people call it a bad loss before the season is over.

It's a bad loss because it was at home. Otherwise, it's not a big deal.

I actually think we've got the inside road to 4th in conference. Baylor's got a tough road with games against Kansas State, Kansas, OU, and Iowa State. They'll lose two more for 11-7 probably.

Iowa State has OSU, Kansas, OU, and Baylor. I'll say 10-8.

We've got only two games left against the top 6 (baylor and iowa state) both at home. Even if OU drops two more, we'll most likely have the tie breaker with Baylor for fourth.

I've heard three or four national commentators say that wasn't a bad loss. So you can be amazed at them, too, while you're at it.

Unless SFA wins their conference tournament, they will be headed to the NIT.

Right, but they'll be the favorite in their conference tournament.

Not necessarily. They have a game next week against Northwestern, which is the team that has already beat SFA once and the other contender for the #1 seed.

SFA is down to 83 in the RPI, and they are falling quickly. Even if they win out, they will keep falling. One more loss, and they will for sure finish outside the top 100. And as was mentioned above, they are no lock to win their conference tourney. And even if they do, so what? There are teams that have made the NCAA Tournament with below .500 records. Those small conferences send what I would consider "bad teams" to the Dance all the time.

I don't know why you keep harping on this. SFA may be our bad loss. But, they are not a "bad" loss by any other definition at this point. Any Big 12, or any team for that matter, that has lost a game to Texas, Texas Tech, TCU, or West Virgina have a worse loss on their resume than OU. All four of those teams are ranked lower.

SFA won't just keep falling. Every game that OU wins will give them a bump. There are 264 teams ranked lower than SFA. And there are countless dozens of teams trying to play themselves into the tourney this last month with a much worse loss. The SFA loss is a non factor for OU and their tourney chances.

I agree, a loss to sfa months ago will not be a factor. The only thing that keeps us from dancing is what happens in the next 6 games. We need to beat tech, tcu, wvu, and isu.

SFA won't just keep falling.

Wrong. They will fall, even if they win every game left on their schedule.

If OU were to lose at home to WVU, would that be a bad loss? I imagine most of you would say yes, and WVU is only a handful of spots below WVU in the current RPI standings.

It might be possible for their RPI to fall if they won out. But, it isn't likely.

With 10 points OU only has 4 losses. 1 point in Stillwater. 2 points at home against SFA. 3 points at home against KSU. 4 points against Arkansas. OU has a solid resume.

Obviously you can do the same thing with the close wins but OU has played well this season. It is so nice to have an adult coaching the team.

Denver, have you been drinking? None of your numbers are right (though close): :)

1 point loss to SFA
3 point loss @UA
2 point loss to KSU
5 point loss @ OSU

11 total points

I would take the wins @ home against SFA and KSU and be incredibly happy with them.

One more point in regulation would have beaten oswho, I think is his point. Two more points would have beaten SFA. Three more points, and we defeat KSU.

Like that.

Yes. A tie doesn't end a basketball game.

With and RPI in top 20 and a SOS in top 5 we have a great resume. Especially if we finish with 12 wins in the conference. I don't care about one bad loss. We will have a good RPI, SOS, conference finish, and last 10 game record. Those are the most popular measures of who gets in. We fit all the criteria of a tournament team. We could even win out and possibly be a 6 seed which isn't bad.
