Our Schedule

To me that doesn't matter. We shouldn't be so bad to get swept by OSU, Lose to Texas, TCU, Northern Iowa, Memphis, Auburn, Kansas State. Every year is a tough schedule in a conference like the Big 12. Fact is we didn't live up to that schedule. Quit making excuses about it. Next year will be a big year for Lon and the group if we don't make an NCAA Tournament we may see Lon get pushed out.

stating facts isn't making excuses...nobody is pleased with this season.

But those that are optomistic can look at the schedule we have played (toughest schedule anyone has played in 15 years) and see that we had a chance to win every single one of those games except for a handful.

It's not making excuses...it is stating facts

If there was ever a year to do this, it would have been this year imo. The tough schedule we played non-conference has not translated into conference wins, so we might as well beat up on some cream puffs to pad the win column and gain confidence.

If we did that we might not have been as competitive in the conference games. It might let them gain confidence but they know at the end of the year that most of their wins were against weaker teams. But now that they know they are close to being very good next year because they were competitive in the hardest schedule in 15 years and have everyone back along with a stud coming in at our weakest & most important position.

JMO but I don't like it when teams weaken their schedule just to get wins (see Baylor football).

I think it would be wise for us to scale back the degree of difficulty in our non-conference schedule significantly next year. Big 12 is going to be tough again more than likely. Let's get these guys used to winning some, especially after all the L's this year. I'm not saying go full cupcake, sprinkle a few challenges in here and there, but let's get a lot of solid but beatable teams on the early season schedule. Don't we have that Nike tourney next November with quite a few tough teams?

We have the PK 80 tournament, and @ the Shockers next year

For all of you jokers that jumped on my original post as if it were some sort of apology for our record, you need to read the entire post before you click reply. I said this VERY CLEARLY at the bottom.

"This year sucked, but I think it's going to pay huge dividends for the future."

I was not making excuses for our record but simply saying that the strength of our schedule and the tight games we played will help us over the long haul.

I'm with you. This was a frustrating season, primarily because when we look back and see how razor thin the margin was for this team and how close we were in so many games we'll realize we were better than our record.

There aren't many teams outside the top ten that I look at and think we can't compete with. I just wouldn't be confident we could close the deal. We have a lot of young players who are learning how to win with no closer to rely on.

Buddy's freshman year they had Osby to fall back on in tight situations. This year Woodard's health made it tough. I also wonder about what impact Pritchard would have had with these guys.
