I totally agree with this post. I was at the game tonight and was thinking, with the way he is playing this year, how many players in the Big 12 can we say without hesitation are better than Pledger right now???

The first guy that comes to mind is Perry Jones at Baylor. After that, I can't name 5 guys that are better right now than Pledger. Last year between KU/Texas/KSU there were at least 5 players that were better than Pledger. But all those guys are gone.

What I love is how Pledger's play affects the team. It seems like everytime we get out of sorts it only takes one or two plays from Pledger to get the teams head back on.

This is his team. You can tell that when the team needs him to step up, he carries them and brings them back. Amazing performance tonight.

Looks like Capel was wrong when he said Osby is the best guy on OU's team. At this point in the season it is pretty clear that Pledger is the best player on the team. Check out the combined shooting of Neal and Pledger.

There are a few here who are so bent on being right, they probably are secretly watching every game hoping he will have a bad one. If and when he does, you will see them out in full force. Until then, I will keep enjoying his maturation/improvement, and I will keep crediting you with being his biggest campaigner. Nice call brother!!!!

I think Capel could have been right when he said that last year. But WTSooner is right, the top spot belongs to Steven Pledger now. He's a much better player than he was last season. This is his team. As Pledger goes, so will this OU team.

I have been on the Pledger bandwagon since before he arrived on campus nearly three years ago. The only change is that it's stronger now than ever!

Heck, I knew there was no way you couldn't be happy that Steven has proven to be one of the best guards in the Big 12 with his performances to this point of the season. The regulars here may agree to disagree on a lot of issues. But the one thing we have in common is our love for Sooner basketball and our desire to see this program succeed. Only a fool would want to see a player fall flat of his face to prove a point. You're a Sooner fan, and a good one, not a fool.

You are wrong.... I don't continue to fan anything, I continue to RESPOND to those who do. If you can't see that, I don't know what to say. I have started zero threads about yesteryear. I simply am tired of the Bitter Dozen, who only come here to flame the board about OUr former coach, when we are experiencing enough success that it should be enough to put a smile on everyone's face.

I challenge you to find one thread I ever created with Capel as the subject, or any player ina a negative tone. You and the other 11 NEVER miss a chance to tell us how right you were about Capel, blah, blah, blah....

In fact, I have not seen much of you this entire year, other than the replies to most EVERY Capel thread, or any opportunity to blast the former coach. Ask yourself, who is really fanning the flames????

Last, how and why do you always feel the need to defend yourself when I say something about Capel?? If you go back and read my post, I said there are SOME POSTERS, yet you as usual felt the need to defend as if I called you out.:facepalm

You have done that several times in almost the same type of situation. For the record, I wasn't even thinking about you when I posted it, because you haven't even been on the board much this year...... I never thought you rooted against OU, but I do know that you were stern in wanting JC gone, something most everyone has acknowledged was good for us.......

They do a pretty decent job of limiting their comments, and the threads they put them in. Again, don't respond if you don't like it. Capel hasn't been gone a year. He recruited nearly our entire roster. People aren't going to stop talking about him.

The difference is, I was on the "right" side of both arguments. Sampson, despite the stuff he put us through at the end of his tenure, was GREAT for OU. He made us relevant year in and year out, had us as a top 15 program during his tenure, and was clearly light years ahead of Capel as a HC.

And I was right about Capel being a below average coach. I was right about him driving our program into the ground. I was right about everything I said about the man as a coach.

My problem isn't with complaining, or wanting change, or not respecting a coach. My issue is when people are on the wrong side of the argument. And there were a LOT of people that wanted to look past all of Capel's bad, and claim he would get it turned around. That was never an option. He was in over his head from day 1, for a variety of reasons.

Hindsight is always 20/20. Again I say, no one here is saying Capel should still be coaching here. There were those who supported him until he was fired, just as they did KS, BT, and other coaches. For the most part, everyone seems to have moved on and realizes we are headed in the right direction.

Now if we struggle in conference, there will be those who turn on LK. It is the nature of the fan oriented message board. I personally am very happy with LK. I liked JC, and I supported him until the end. I loved BT and KS, and was probably the most diappointed when KS left because I loved his approach/passion to coaching.

I refuse to keep a running total of my right/wrong arguments. Its all opinion based, and I realize we all will have OUr opinions about any given subject. For instance, you see no problem with the Capel bashing. I respect that. I see a problem with it, so we seem to ahve a difference of opinion, and we both are exercising OUr right to express that. Nothing more.....

I am defending myself because you called me out in another thread.

I've been around quite a bit, but as usual, I get more revved up when football is over. According to some on here, that makes me less of an OU fan, which is beyond comprehension.

I don't ever say anyone is more or less of a fan. That is stupid, IMO as well. I also LOVE OU football and during football season it is my priority.....

You know that we have have often disagreed on hoops subjects, but I never would question your fandom. I know you from other boards, and I have never doubted your dedication to OU. I honestly was not even thinking about you when I made the comment in this thread. I know you would never root against Ou.....

Fair enough. I apologize if I jumped the gun and thought you were speaking of me.

I wasn't including you as one of the ones who questions my ou basketball fandom because I don't post much during football season.
