Pending Targets

I observe. I listen. I ask question after question of knowledgeable staff members that help me understand what I'm observing. I seek the input and opinion of other parties that have the interest and initiative to show up. I have enough brain power to process the information. I have been doing it from the start of Kruger's tenure.

I didn't say that I possessed more knowledge than the entire board. What I did say was that no one had put more time and effort into understanding what Kruger was doing.

While the entire board may have me over a barrel, I can say with certainty, I know more about than you.

Agree Gary because you are at practice and interact with the staff some. Based on getting some interaction they must trust you.

How many practices do you attend? How many one on one interactions do you have with the members of the coaching staff about what the goals of the team are? They will readily answer your questions if you take the time out of your day to attend practice and support the team. Gary does this almost everyday. I have been to practices and had similar conversations with the coaches as Gary indicates he has, only difference is he goes to more in a month then i have been to in the 3 years coach has been here and had open practice. If Gary says coach told him the goals of building the team, then unless coach is lying to his face, you can take it to the bank.

I have no idea who knows the most about basketball other than to be certain it is not me. I am just a fan with no playing experience other than pick up and rec leagues.

With that said, I really feel like Gary is one of the most valuable members on this site. It is not possible for me to go to practice. I probably couldn't do it even if I lived in Norman. We are fortunate to have him share his insights and knowledge.

Amen!

quite a few and several

and several outside of the practice environment ..

Did you really type that about yourself???That's kind of ...um.... scary to say the least.
AS I said our young talent is just fine and will be good enough the next two seasons the compete for the conference title(finished second this season)Sure we need legit big man but so do 95% of teams in the ncaa.
If you were really close to the staff you wouldn't get on a public message board and talk about it. I would say you are more of a jock sniffer with some major issues by the looks of your last post.
I wonder If all the players you think you are friends with know you basically don't think they are very talented?
Im also glad you have crowned yourself the ou hoops message board King , maybe you could get a medal and wear it to all the ou practices.

You are completely out-of-line. You are reading things into Gary's post that are not there.

Lack of reading comprehension?

Id say you owe Gary an apology or hit the road. Quite uncalled for, Gary does bring the most to this board. You being a complete tool to Gary isnt right.

What the hell brought that on? Certainly nothing Gary said.

You're woefully out of touch with what Gary has meant to this board the past two seasons. He has been our eyes and ears at nearly every practice for two years or more. He spends countless hours reporting what he sees, and yes, offering his own opinion on occasion. Members here know in advance they can accept what he says or form their own opinion. I have found his reports to be spot on in almost every instance.

I agree with what CoachTalk said. You owe Garyeb2 an apology! There is no justification whatsoever for the insults you threw his way.

Absolutely and/or ban him Ada!!!

I think reading comprehension is the right line to take here. Feel free to comment on what I said. Try using some judgment on making up things that I said.

I'm not friends with any of the players. Nor would I care to be. They are a bunch of kids. I prefer the company of adults. That would probably rule you out. I am acquainted with all of them. And they know what I say about them. Some of them read the message board. Tyler gave me a good natured gigging a couple of times over what I said about him. They all seem to be more mature and good natured about other peoples opinion than you.

I'm not friends with any of the staff. But, I am acquainted with them. They are all hospitable and welcoming to anyone that is interested enough in the program to show up. The frequency of my practice appearances lends itself to familiarity. That familiarity may manifest itself in a little more access. That access from time to time may lead to some OU Basketball information that is not readily available to other good fans. I pass some of it along. I don't blab it all on the message board even though I doubt that anyone would tell me anything that was some big state secret.

I do think the players are talented. I don't think that the are the most talented non one and done players in the country. I'm guessing that you are alone in that belief.

I'm a process guy and I appreciate expertise. It is a rare commodity. I attend basketball practices to observe an expert (Kruger) go through the process week by week, month by month, and year by year of building a basketball program.

I'm happy to take the time to walk you through this once. I hope it helps you to better focus your perspective. But, past that, .............

Walker and Allen: Is there anybody else remaining that is still an active 2014 recruiting target?

OU has had some wonderful "finds" in recent late signings: Cousins in 2012 and Booker in 2013. Maybe these guys can have similar success.

Dinjiyal Walker (6-2; Combo Guard) .. Iowa Western Community College (Council Bluffs, Iowa)
http://blogs.post-gazette.com/sport...-walker-howard-to-visit-duquesne-this-weekend

D'Angelo Allen (6-6; SF) .. Dallas, Texas (Kimball High School)

Reportedly, Allen visited OU last weekend (see link), and Walker will visit OU sometime this week. Maybe we will hear something by Friday; however, the Spring signing period runs through mid-May. I would love to get both of these guys. That would still leave two scholarships for the 2015 recruiting class.

Maybe you guys that are following this more closely can enlighten those of us that aren't.

Besides those two, Verbal Commits still has us on 4 other guys for 2014.

speaking of uncalled for ...

Exactly what is uncalled for?

Gary has the time and proximity to attend practices. That doesn't make him better than anyone else and I have seen him claim he was. It does mean he has insight that most of us don't. Why does it bother you? It certainly doesn't bother me. I actually appreciate it.

Gary's original (unedited) remarks had a classic finish that was (IMHO) very appropriate and reminiscent of Rhett Butler's final line in Gone With the Wind.

That 5-word finish has been removed by management.

I laughed out loud when I read it (before it was removed).

Good job Gary.

It may interest you to know that while I'm the one who edited it, I shared Gary's sentiments. When posters launch an attack on someone for no apparent reason, they deserve a response like that.

To be honest, it was painful for me to edit what he said. But, no one said the job of an admin is always fair, and it's definitely not much fun. :(

I'm pretty sure if Lon Kruger was on here to read your last few posts, you might have a restraining order...seriously. I couldn't tell if you were talking to yourself out loud, or what. Ive seen some pretty strange stuff on message boards through the years but this takes the cake.
Ive seen a lot of people act like they know it all about a program, but never seen anyone CLAIM it.
We can argue all day long about how talented this team is or isn't, its all some ones opinion.
I will say I don't care how highly recruited a team is or isn't, wins are the ultimate goal. We finished second in one of the best (if not the best ) conferences in the country , this with FOUR starting underclassman. The future is very bright.
Do we need to improve and build of this success...sure. But Im betting Heid , Cousins, Woodard, and Spangler never miss another start the rest of their careers baring injuries/suspension. Not to mention wina ton of games during that span.
I greatly appreciate what we have on campus right now, and cant wait until these players continue to grow.
