Players and ships available by year

I was apparently typing while Warrior was posting so I didn't see his post until just now. There are some players who just know how to play the game and everything comes easy. Brooke seems to have that, at least against the limited competition we have seen. You're right, she is not a 4 but I do think she would be able to play 1-3 if needed but particularly the 3. Kornet would be a senior when Brooke arrives, yes I realize I'm counting chickens that haven't yet hatched :), so she could be eased into the lineup with no pressure and be ready to go fulltime the following year.

I think Kornet is faster than she is getting credit for. I see her biggest problem as having too much respect for her opposition. Sometimes, you have to learn to use your advantages rather than to let your opponent dictate the terms according to his advantages. It would not surprise me to see Kornet have a breakout year, something like Jo, but different. I like the idea of having Nicole on one side, Maddie on the other, and Ortiz in the middle, all in motion.

I think Kornet would be a better/ contribute more if she could play at the 2 or 3 more instead of the post, at one time I thought she would be good playing in the post, but shes not a good rebounder even at 6'2 and doesn't have the aggression to be a post player. I like Brook, it looks like she has a guys jump shoot with a high release over her head or just about.

Kornet hasn't been playing the post. She has been either a power or shooting forward, depending on who is in the game with her. But, we used Kaylon and Nicole Griffin at the post, with Felisha mopping up.

I don't see her as the classic power forward. But, in a running game, she can be a very effective rebounder, and she does go to the rim. She seems to have lost the shooting tough that she was recruited for, but I think that is a psychological fear of her competition that she has to overcome. She can do everything that a running forward needs to do, and she does get out there. At times, she was the only one that we had who battled on the boards, and we didn't recruit her for that.

You bring up something we haven't really discussed much. I really don't know where Kornet fits best. In conference play, she started making 3s and ended up making 37% of her shots BTA, which is good. She only made 34% of her field goals, which is not good. She averaged 5.9 PPG and 2.6 RPG. Neither of those numbers is good. She doesn't shoot more threes because she has trouble shaking perimeter defenders and she has difficulty penetrating for jump shots. She has trouble rebounding because, as you pointed out, she lacks aggressiveness. I think both of those numbers (scoring and rebounding) have to improve for her to be a starter.

If Gibbs did transfer that would give OU 2 in 2015 or 4 in 2016. That really opens it up.
