Unlike with Romero last year, we don't have to speculate on how good M'Baye is. I saw him play a couple times last year and he is a good player. Unlike Ro, he is a known commodity.
He is a little more athletic, and probably an inch taller, than Ro. I don't know if by next year, or now for that matter, he is a better player than Ro, as we have all had a limited opportunity to see Ro at the D-1 level.
I can't get a feel for the board, but I really like what I have seen from Ro this year and would say he has exceeded my expectations. He is a good solid Big 12 power forward. I didn't expect this. Not sure why, but I incorrectly invisioned him being a tall soft kid with perimeter skills that wouldn't bang inside. Couldn't have been more wrong. Moreover, I think he is only going to get better with time. He hasn't played in game action for about 3 years (until this year). Reasonable people could differ, but I think Grooms and Osby have been the best two players on the team to date. Certainly, from a pure scoring standpoint, Pledger has been the best, but for my money, I would take Grooms and Osby if dividing up teams and I get first two picks.
Unless he gets worse, some how, everyone on this board will be glad M'baye is on the team next year. As to how he will fit and where he will play, from what I saw last year, he will play inside on defense and not sure on offense. But that's just my guess. this will probably depend somewhat on who else Lon wants to be on the court with him. As for starting, I don't know but he will play plenty of minutes barring something unforeseen. Ask anyone who has seen him play, he is a very athletic and good player. No guess work at all.
