It was really surprising to me watching today how much Penn and Pilgrim have regressed since last season.

Others that come to mind?

I'd say Willie Warren (although he struggled with injuries to an extent) and that Australian kid who played for Baylor, Bruce maybe?

I don't know if you can call this guy regressing but I thought Tony Crocker would improve more than he did from year to year. Instead he pretty much was about the same all 4 years.

Ray Penn looked terrible and has struggled all year. I thought this was going to be a breakout season for him.

Mike Neal regressed his senior year but I think that was in large part do to injury. I guess the same could be said of Willie though I think his attitude regressed without Taylor and Blake there to keep him in line.

Crocker was asked to do a lot of different things...esp the Elite Eight year his job was to guard the other team's best wing.

David Harrison. His brother DJ also had a nice transfer JR year at CU and then slumped badly his SR year. Patton had a lot of players who never got much better.

Bingo. I was just about to say Harrison.

I don't think Penn and Pilgrim have meshed well with Ford.

They both played very well against Missouri. I thought Pilgrim played ok today, Penn did not.

Bingo. I was just about to say Harrison.

I saw CU play 5-6 times a year back then....part of David H's problem (outside of staying in shape and not being a bit off in the head) was that CU never got him the ball at the end of games. He played on teams with one of the all-time NCAA ball-hogs, Michel Morandais. Morandais was the king of the 1 on 4 drive to the lane on a possession where your team needs a basket. he was a nice scorer, but had a ten cent head.

well remember this is penns first time in the big 12 and last year all he had to do was not turn it over and get the ball to obi and james, not all that difficult. This year he put pressure on himself to score and couldn't do it and I think his inattention to the rest of his game has hurt him big time. dude is just halfway through his sophomore year its too early to say he has regressed.

Pilgrim is just not a smart player.

Samuels at KSU has fallen off, joseph jones at tamu seemed to take a step back each year.

i thought Boschee and A. Miles as PG's never got much better after making contributions as FR.

I think Penn and Pilgrim greatly benifited from OBi and James drawing all the attention.

Penn only played half of last year, and only played a couple of conference games.

Pilgrim benifited from Obi playing on the wing and clearing out the lane. Ford has said that Pilgrim has confidence issues and all the junk he went through in the preseason caught up with him.

I guess what I am trying to say is, I don't think they were ever as good as some fans (including me) thought they were.

I think JamesOn Curry regressed from his Frosh to his Soph. year. He played a lot better his Junior year, but was never the player I think he could have been.

I thought Tim Heskett regressed some to end his career (I think his back was bothering him).

I don't think Boschee was needed as much later on in his career.

Miles I agree with, never diversified his game.

Here's one from a ways back. Jason Detrick. He put up solid numbers as a backup off the bench as a JR. Redshirted a year so he could start and be the main guy and just never really was. I think he probably put up better numbers as a Sr, but that's only because he played more. He wasn't as good his senior year.

I don't know about that. He went from averaging 23 to 21, and 8 rebounds to 7.5

That's not that big a drop.
He was in a shooting funk all of 1996. He had to take a ton more shots to get to 21 a game.

But man was he a stud in '95. That team was a blast to watch. John Ontjes!

James Thomas was the poster child of regression in the Big 12.

He went from averaging a double double their Final 4 season to not even touching that type of production the season after.

I thought Tim Heskett regressed some to end his career (I think his back was bothering him).

IIRC Heskett was the all-time conference leader in 3 pt % when he hurt his thumb. wasn't ever the same shooter. still better than most, but not what he was.

Taj Gray - Senior year ended with a loss to Wisc Milwakee and numbers decrease
Terell Everett - FG, FT and 3pt % went down, turnovers went up senior year
Drew Lavender - ppg went from 11.3 to 9.7 from freshman to soph year
Brandon Foust - ppg, ft%, 3pt% all went down from fresh to soph year
Jabari Brown - FG% and rebounds decreased 3 years in a row while turnovers increased
Ebe Ere - ppg, 3pt%, ft%, rebs all decreased 2nd year, while turnovers increased
Bobby Joe Evans - career fizzled out mostly to weight and injury

But you guys already said the 3 big ones, Tim Heskett, Jason Detrick and Ryan Minor.
