Polla

we useta love screaming for Oleg at LNC. top dawg would come over to C27 or whatever it was and holler with us.

It seems like every decade, there is a guy you really go crazy for when he gets in the game. I remember screaming for Jason Skurcinksi.....but that was a long time ago.;)

Yep. It may have something to do with how hard it is to spell a walk-on's name. :D

Comparing Polla to fan favorite walk ons is cool and all, except for the fact he is taking up a scholarship. I hope he isn’t with OU next season but I do wish him the best.

You realize he is our tenth man, right? Try to find me a team whose tenth man contributes more than spot minutes. You get 12 scholarships, should teams just hand out 8 or 9 and pray no one gets hurt or in foul trouble?

They also were raving about Odomes being a good shooter, so I passed that comment off as someone who doesn’t know the team well. But it was weird they said the coaches rave about him.

Yeah, they didn't know much about our team.

I expect Polla to be back next year. Unlikely to do much but you never know. Also if we ever play a true big man he should be able to help

He wouldn't be the first scholarship player to make a limited on-the-court contribution if he stayed and didn't improve much (I mentioned Retzov earlier). He's probably a big help in practice, and hopefully great in the class room. I will say this. Looking around in the stands yesterday (I was fortunate to be sitting where 95% of the OU fans were) when he was in, that guy was an OU crowd favorite for sure. We all went nuts when he made that basket and yelled a simultaneous "AWE!" when he missed his shot seconds earlier. No other OU player got that kind of attention. If he sticks around for two more years, no one at the game yesterday would complain.
