Could not agree with you more!
We’ve definitely upgraded our bigs.
Kur was a shot blocking fool and should have played a lot more we’ll miss his defense. He was not a good position defender but a long athletic freak. His offense was dunks and layups.
Manek was a good shooter and I’m thankful for his contributions but I’ve never seen a Sooner surrender so many points, such a high shooting percentage, and offensive rebounds to his man
Iwuakor is a 6’5 1/2” or 6’6” guy with a broken jumper trying to get by as a post player through athleticism. There’s a reason he averaged less than 3 points and 3 rebounds per game. If he was 6’9” he’d be all conference but he’s lucky if he’s a true 6’6”. He’s fiesty as all get out but not tall nor skilled enough to be a difference maker in paint. He’s Doo’s size without the midrange jumper or the basketball IQ.
I’d rather have Chargois than both Manek and Kur. And Ethan is the transfer the fan base is least excited about. But he’s listed at 6’9 and 235 prolly about 6’8” 235 but for a for a big who shoots so many threes and doesn’t have a true post game he mixes it up really we on defense, is a solid rebounder and is an exceptional passer. He can post up shorter guys on mismatches. But he plays defense and rebounds like a true post player. He averaged over 12 PPG as Soph.
Groves is a true inside out post player with back to the basket moves and the ability to shoot out to 3 point line. He rebounds well, blocks shots, passes extremely well and is a legit threat to get hot and dominate down low. He’s a guy who has to be accounted for by the defense at all times. Our best big man since Blake. I’d rather have Groves than all the bigs we had last year Manek, Kur and Iwuakor.
Is the big JUCO Akol Maiwen (sp) who decommitted from ark coming?
When doing a comparison JUCO points should count or .60 per point and rebound vs D1. Anyone seen any film on him?
