Possible transfers

Looking at Loyola stats, they're top 7 minute guys averaging over 1 asst with no one over 3.2. Would a play maker point be less important in Moser's offense? Of course you need multiple guys to handle against pressure without TO's.

It's way less important. With Moser's offense, the offense itself helps create shots more than it relies on the players to do so individually.

It's one reason I'm not getting hung-up on needing a guy like Goldwire. Once the first pass is made, it's like the old Kelvin offenses, without the restrictions on who is allowed to shoot the ball, lol. Give me guys that can shoot the ball, b/c there will be open shots.

Johnnie Gilbert taking the last shot to be Missouri on the road was the pinnacle of this offense.

Close...it was Jameel Haywood. I’ll never forget jumping up and down with excitement like an 8 year old on Christmas morning.

I disagree with the idea that you don’t need a guy that can create and distribute (Goldwire) just because you run more of an offense that helps get guys open.

Case in point is a lot of the time those offenses/teams go through big scoring droughts throughout games because teams scout and cover well and don’t allow those open shots. When you have those droughts in games and near the end of the shot clock, it’s nice to have at least one, if not multiple guys that can create for himself and for others.

Having a post player to isolate (Groves) helps with that as well but so does a guy at the point that can create. No, you don’t always need it when you run an offensive system to help get guys open but at the end of the day when you need one score, having a guy that can create that will always be welcome.

If memory serves, it was a follow-up jumper from just below the elbow. Can't remember who took the first shot. What I DO remember is the Wilkinson Dorm went absolutely ape**** when it splashed through the net.

We had Misery's number back then. Big time. I was scared to death that our luck would run out against them in the Elite 8. Damn near did, too. Just keep shooting, Clarence! Fire when ready!!!

I was in Florida for a class and watched that game in the hotel room. The other people in the hotel must have wondered what was happening!

Me too!

I wonder what happened with Robinson and A&M. They had a terrible year. May have been Buzz's first? Anyway I looked at some of their boxes and Robinson started some games, some games had tiny minutes, and some games didn't play. Wonder if he was hurt?

Has OU actually offered?

So we got the Groves boys and Goldwire. How many more transfers are we taking? I assume our main targets are Thompson and the UTEP big, right?

CJ Fredrick (Iowa)

Saw this headline if you google Jaxon Robinson.

Your information is creating a monster you need to keep feeding. Can you pull a Dean Blevins and give your percentage chances for each?

I see why they call him buzz. That roster used to have hair and now it’s buzzed.

That's how I feel. Sometimes stats and accolades don't tell the entire story. And before anybody jumps to his defense, I'm not saying he is a bad player. He clearly isn't. But if people are picking teams, he isn't one of the top 10 guards taken in college basketball last year, regardless of his stats.

Also, we can't have it both ways. If Reaves was so good, and Manek was so good, and Lon was such a great coach, and we're all excited about Gibson and Harkless, and Hill has all this potential, and Harmon was so good as well, why was our record what it was the past couple of seasons?

The fact is, either Lon wasn't doing as good a job as some suggested, OR some combination of those players weren't as good as some around here make them out to be. It has to be one or the other.

Not a big deal, and I'm trying to look forward, but jeez, we didn't just put up the records we've put up the last 2 and last 4 years while having all of these talented basketball players and coaches.
yup...100% agree

When Custar & Townes were the lead guards they handled it a ton & were the leading assist men by a large margin.

Moser has a system but adapts his system to fit his players.
