My guess ...

PG Reynolds - Bieniemy -Giles
SG James - Bieniemy-Lazenby
SF Odoms - Doolittle
PF Manek - Freeman/Kur/Doolittle
C Muni- Polla/Kur

Am I omitting anyone? Thoughts?
Oops forgot Bieniemy... he’s added

WAY too early for this, considering we'll likely have two more players coming. There is a -99.9% chance that we go into next season with Giles and Lazenby in the two deep.

And Doolittle/Kur aren't going to see a lot of time at the 3. I know Doolittle played there a little this year, but it was more out of necessity than anything. Nor will Kur ever be the 5.

My thoughts as it sits now

PG Reynolds / ? / Giles
SG James / Bieniemy / Lazenby
SF Odoms / Doolittle / Bieniemy
PF Manek / Kuath / Doolittle / Freeman
C Muni / Polla / Kuath

Bigs are easy -- McNeace, Polla, Kuath.
Wings are Odomes, Bieniemy, James, Manek, Doolittle, Lazenby (not necessarily in that order)
Ball handlers are Reynolds. I'm expecting Calixte to be added soon.

Freeman needs to remake himself as a backup big and then maybe he can earn some PT. He's not a wing but I could see him earning some time maybe in relief of McNeace if he works on his interior defense and rebounding.

Freeman is too skinny, frail and soft to compete inside.. he needs to lead the nation in 3 pt shooting if he wants to play.. lol

Giles will never play.. lazenby is not even D1 and he is 2x what giles is honestly

dont diss our players like that please. thats just so unnecessary man.

Are you related to Lazenby? You sure didn't mind dissing Trae Young with a new thread every few days.

I suspect several of our prayers are going to improve drastically this off season.
Of Muni, Polla, Freeman, Doolittle, Lazenby, Odoms, two or three of them will take their game to a new higher level.

I expect OU to sign Calixte who will be our starting PG. Reynold will be his backup but will get most of his minutes as a wing..... he can shot the 3. I see 5 wings getting signicant playing time: James, Reynolds, and Bienemy at the 2. Odomes and an unnamed grad transfer at the 3. Cunningham? Doolittle and Manek at the PF 4. McNeace, Polla, and Kuath in the post as the 5.

I don’t see where Freeman or Lazenby get much time.... and I kind of like some of the little things Lazenby does when he’s in the game.

That’s the way I see it too, usedtobe1. If Calixte picks OU, I think he will start at the point from day one. We should know more after this weekend.

I like what Reynolds brings to the team. He can back up the point when Calixte needs a breather and swing to the two behind CJ to give us more firepower at that position. I think Bieniemy is versatile enough to play a similar role. Minutes may be determined by who is playing the best defense and/or who is making shots. It’s a good problem to have.

I agree Odomes will start at the three. I’m just not sure about the backup if we don’t sign a grad transfer. Could be by committee depending on the match ups. Manek and Doolittle at the four is about right. It would be nice if Manek adds a few pounds of much-needed muscle this summer.

McNeace will start at the five for sure. Kauth will back him up unless Polla improves between now and the opening tap this fall. I’m anxious to see what they will bring to the team, mainly because we know less about those two than anyone else.

That’s eleven players, thirteen counting Freeman and Lazenby. The challenge may be to give nine or ten players enough minutes to develop their game and to keep tham happy. It didn’t work too well last season. Maybe it will be different this time.

I think you'd see us just play 3 guards at times, and/or slide James (biggest guard body remaining) down to the 3 when Odomes is off the court.

There shouldn't be a problem with playing Calixte/Reynolds, James/Reynolds/Bienemy, and Odomes/James at the same time. Heck, I'd even be comfortable playing Calixte, Reynolds, and Bienemy at the same time.

Kansas' main lineup this year was Graham/Newman/Vick and it worked out fine for them so you definitely can run a 3 guard lineup and not worry about size. Unless you are Travis Ford trying to play 3 six foot and under guys.

Agreed. That’s why I said Rashard’s backup could be by committee. Kruger will have plenty of options at the two and three. I like them better than last year.

Next year is going to be brutal. Same role guys and then adding a guy from Pacific, a JUCO that can't score and doesn't have the weight/strength for the Big 12, and maybe a guy from Maine. Wow.

Yep, let's go ahead and cancel the season. Amazing how clairvoyant you are to know exactly what to expect from three kids you have probably not watched play a single second of basketball!

I've been watching the guys we are depending on since they got here. I watched the highlights of Kur and he's so much taller than everyone he's playing against. And no defense in the clips I watched by the other team. He will now be playing against guys who are as tall or taller and alot stronger than him. Look man, I'm a realist. I played ball and can tell you guys that will help or not. He's a project that might turn out ok but we can't depend on him next year. And I'm supposed to get excited about two guards transferring from Pacific and Maine. Just plan on a rough year next year.

Expert! Love it!

What’s your win total for next year? Over under let’s wager!

It's a good thing you aren't a GM for an NBA team. If you run through the current rosters in the NBA, there are TONS of guys from small schools like the ones you listed above that are not just NBA players but major contributors in the NBA.

In no way am I comparing these guys to these NBA level players, but just to write a guy off because he didn't go to Duke or Kentucky is just foolish. The 3rd guy OU is in on, Mike Cunningham, is from USC Upstate and there is currently a guy in the NBA from USC Upstate just for an example.

Again, I'm not saying these guys are NBA players themselves but talent is talent and OU seems to be recruiting grad transfers (Reynolds/Calixte/Cunningham) that are all used to scoring (at least 13+ a game last year) and can come in and provide some leadership as well.

IF they end up with at least 2/3 or all 3 of those guys, I'll feel a TON better about next year given they should be light years ahead leadership wise even if it comes from 3 grad transfers.

Chief is right to keep everyone realistic in these guys. I want all schollies used on grad guys. But the maine kid's team went like 4-20.. there's something to be said about that in a sport that only plays 5 players at a time....

Hell prolly be a Carl Blair level player.. but sadly we need a carl blair for next year
