Our guys gave it everything they had. Guys we have a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP caliber team. Need to get Cousins right...

1) That was a GREAT basketball game. One of the best I've ever watched.
2) Refs missed calls on both sides of the ball. I don't think it was uneven.
3) That said, Lattin DID NOT TRAVEL. That was a the play of the game. OU likely wins without that call.
4) I still think we are the best team in the country. We could easily have won at the Phog tonight. We will win at home and I truly believe this is our conference to lose. A win tonight just would have made it money in the bank.
5) Boomer Freaking Sooner! This squad has what it takes. Best Sooner team I've seen since I was a kid, and I'm almost a man! (Gundy reference)

Well said, Indy! Nothing there I disagree with. This team is not only good, they're as mentally tough as any team OU has had in years. I like our chances to win the Big 12 title and to make a deep run in March, likely a final four type run.

That was especially weak after the no-call at the end of the first OT when the KU player literally went to the ground with the ball after a rebound with 15 seconds left. It was tied, and would have given us the attempt for the last shot. How can you not call it there, when try guy FALLS ALL THE WAY TO THE GROUND but the next OT you call it on a guy grabbing the ball in traffic? And yes, I believe if that all isn't made, the game is over right there, and we ice it.

Very!

In my eyes, probably their second most impressive moment of the season - behind Nova.

Absolutely agree. We have a special team and tonight showed we are for real.

So true. We do need Cousins moving forward to not let bad starts get in his head, he's so important to this teams success. I'm not one to make a big deal out of morale victories, but we showed the world (everyone was watching this game) that we are for real. Come back home on Saturday and kick the living **** out of KSU!

And Ellis did! He rebounded the ball, fell and slid two feet.

The numbers on the officiating were even, but some things aren't reflected in the numbers. The two calls above. The inbounds play that sealed it. The fact that OU didn't get into double bonus in the second half. The fact that KU was whistled for 2 fouls in 15 minutes of overtime, while OU was whistled for 9.

In crunch time, when it really mattered, the officiating was anything but even. Mason was whistled for his fourth foul with 22 seconds left in regulation. Did he back off Hield in OT? Of course not. Would it have helped us if he'd been called for his fifth foul in OT--any of the three OTs? Hell, yes, it would. Even if it had come with 7 seconds left in the third OT.

But he wasn't.

Sorry, the officiating wasn't even at all.

I usually hate moral victories, but this is an exception. This team made a huge statement tonight and didn't even come close to playing their best game. I think we'll beat KU by 10+ in Norman.

I refuse to blame the refs tonight, even if my gut says we got screwed a bit at the end.

I'm very proud of the team. We deserved to win.

Fair enough. I'm taking nothing away from KU; they're a great team and they played very well. But without help from the officials, they lose.

Buddy Hield should have been at the line at the end -- even the TV guys are saying it (and honestly, how often do they do that?) -- and we were FINALLY in the double bonus. I kind of like our chances in that situation, don't you?

No doubt. But if I allow myself to blame the officials, I'll go on a Facebook rant and be pissed off instead of enjoying one of the best regular season games I've ever seen. There's too much season left for me to get that way. I still think we win this conference running away. And this is a really good conference.

By the way, the former player I was texting during the game was PISSED at the refs in overtime.

You're a better man than me. I was doing ok with the officiating till OT, but sure as shooting, that's when the officials stepped up on behalf of KU. They always do, and it's nauseating.

I can certainly see where some have a gripe with the officials, but it's tough for me to blame them when our 2nd leading scorer ends a triple OT game with FOUR(!!!) points. Isaiah was cripplingly bad tonight, and it cost us the game more than anything else did IMO.

If you had told me that we would basically play KU even for 55 minutes in the Phog with Cousins having the difficult game he had, I'd have never believed you. He's struggling a bit right now with producing within his role while still being a distributor. He's in a tough spot and I'm sure no one is harder on him than he is. Between Cousins and the staff, they have to find a way to help him grow and evolve and move past this. Woodard had some of the same issues at times the last 2 years. I have no doubt it will come. We need him at his best and we need more off the bench if we want to get to OKC and win out from there.

Guys played their hearts out!!! One break at the end, and we win this game. I'm gonna enjoy watching this team make a run at a conference & Nat'l. title.....

That may go down as the game of the year in all of sports. Nothing to be ashamed of. Just gotta move on and beat KSU.
