Is it my imagination or do men make a greater effort to extend their arms upward when shooting jump shots than do the girls? It seems than girls shoot those jump shots out to 10ft. without really reaching as high as they can which makes it easier to block their shots.

Imani Stafford is an exception. She keeps her hands high. When added to her height it leads to very few (none?) of them being blocked.

I'm hoping Nancy Mulkey will follow that example.

There is a specific strength-weight requirement to be able to have sufficient force on the ball. I'm not sure that all girls have sufficient weight to have enough force behind the shot if launched from above the head.

Good point about Imani Stafford! I have no idea why other girls aren't taught to extend the ball skyward as high as they can reach and shoot with their wrists on short jump shots out to 10ft.
