Could recruited walk on Chris Giles play the point next season, even as a back up? His 247Sports recruiting profile shows he had offers from OU, Houston, tOSU, SMU and Okie State. He was recruited but not offered by KU.

Why did he walk on at OU if he had what appears to be some solid offers? If he was ever a legitimate candidate to play the point, why wasn’t he redshirted this season?

I would love to see it happen but I can’t think of many walk-in b-ball players having an impact.

Giles got offers as a sophomore but then kind of plateaued. None of those offers were still on the table his senior year. He transferred to a prep school and some of the other players passed him by. That’s how I recall it......

We need a “difference maker” at PG, which I think is the most important position in basketball. I’m concerned we may have a “stop gap” player until De’Vion Harmon gets here. I just hope this season doesn’t scare away Harmon and Jalen Wilson.

No. He won't be an option. Great take as a walk on tho

Is that what this program has fallen to, a walk-on pg running the team

Offer from OU?

Scratches head

Next thing you know, we’ll have a freaking walk-on playing quarterback.
Was Chris Giles the freshman offensive player of the year? That’s what Baker was at Tech if your are trying to make a witty analogy.

Yep, according to 247Sports. Must have been pulled later. He was member of the National Honor Society with a 4.0 GPA coming out of high school. His dad played at OU in the 90’s. He’s the kind of kid we want in the program, even if he never plays.

Chris played 3 years at Plano West before transferring to Findlay Prep in Henderson, NV where he averaged 6.3 points, 3.3 assists, and 2.3 assists per game as a senior. Those kind of numbers don’t attract many schools.... unless he was injured or something.

If I recall, he was highly touted his freshman and sophomore years, but then his play fell off (and he quit growing) and those early offers dissipated his late junior/senior year.

I think it's Lon fault that Giles quit growing. Or Trae's. I go back and forth on this one. :ez-roll:
