Reaves a Sooner

so he will be sitting this season out and join the team for the 19-20 season?

Terrific! My compliments to the staff for doing an outstanding job in recruiting tranfers. Reaves, Calixte and Reynolds are all great gets!

Awesome. Love him as a player. Does so many things well and will be a need influx of experience in 19

Great news (though I wish he could play right away).

Yeah but 2 years with Harmon is going to be a blast!

thats what I was thinking too. the rs year sucks but since it will combine him with Harmon that may make it a blessing in disguise.

Amazing that we managed to get a kid who was being recruited by a lot of great programs. Must have just gotten lucky since we all "know" our staff is negligent when it comes to recruiting! :facepalm

Good for him to adjust as well. Big 12 is tough.

Great job by LK's staff.

Next year will be very interesting for sure.

Yes, congrats! A kid that two years ago wasn't ranked by any recruiting service, and who has averaged 4 and 8 ppg the last two years, is now being counted on to turn our program around in a year when we turn over a large part of our roster.

If we were getting him to fill a hole on the bench, I'd like it a lot more. If he starts for two years at OU, I think OU fans are going to be disappointed in both the player and the team over that time. Hope I'm wrong.

There was a bunch of the same sentiment when Spangler transferred from Gonzaga. This kid can play. He isn't an all American but he will help us!

Nice strawman. Where exactly did I or anyone else say that we were counting on him alone to turn around the program? And do we need to be turned around from making the tourney five of six years? Finally, off the top of my head I would bet his numbers through two years match up well with Cousins, who became a great Sooner, but hey, it's way more fun to bash everyone we sign and sing the praises of every kid who goes elsewhere.

“We’re very pleased to have Austin join our program,” OU coach Lon Kruger said in a release sent out Tuesday afternoon. “He’s a terrific young player who shoots the ball well while also being able to create for others. He’s a versatile talent who fits exactly what we need.”

Reaves averaged 8.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and two assists last season at WSU. Also encouraging for OU: He shot 42.5 percent from 3, including hitting seven consecutive 3-pointers in a game against Tulsa.

Although the Sooners will lean on returner Christian James, graduate transfers Aaron Calixte and Miles Reynolds, and freshman Jamal Bieniemy to anchor next season’s backcourt, Reaves provides an encouraging complement to highly touted 2019 point guard De’Vion Harmon. That duo could shape the future of OU's program.

Random factoid from Cody Stavenhagen: Reaves once made seven straight first-half 3-pointers against Tulsa. In HS, he once scored 73 points (in triple OT) and had 56 or more four times.

Those eight ppg would put him in third place among our returning scorers if he could play this season.

Oh, and he shot 45% from 3-point range in his two seasons with Wichita State.

So far, that is only implied for Jalen Wilson...and there is plenty of smoke with those implications. Regardless, congrats to the staff for closing the deal on Mr. Reaves!

Great points...think he will make a major impact 18 months from now!
