I almost died, well atleast it felt like it... No, not because I was wearing a Sooner pull over inside GIA. But because after the game while walking on the side walk to my truck, slipped, landed on my tail bone and banged my head pretty hard on the concrete. If anyone here saw it happen right there at the corner where Joe's is near GIA, yes, that was me. I felt like hell all day yesterday, but feel much better today and can now laugh about it :facepalm:ez-roll:

Anyway... Really glad that I went. I mentioned that I am superstitious and thought about not going in fear of jinxing us, and believe me, I though about leaving at halftime thinking that I was the reason for us getting beat pretty good for most of the 1st.

2nd half might have been the best team basketball we've played since @UT. We crashed the offensive boards with a purpose, getting multiple putback dunks, played outstanding defense, had great ball movement, and out hustled a team that really relies on hustle to keep them in games.

As for GIA... really cool environment. I wish we could have an atmosphere like that. The place was really close to capacity, and for most of the 1st half it was rocking pretty good. On one hand, I'm glad we were able to keep them in their seats for a majority of the second half, but I also somewhat felt robbed of what the atmosphere would have been like if the game had been back and forth and come down to the last possession.

Huge sweep for us heading into this stretch of games!

Thanks for the sharing your experience. Hope you get to heal up this week.

I wish we could have an atmosphere like that.

Granted, I watched both games on TV, but from my vantage point, there wasn't a thing wrong with our atmosphere in the first Bedlam game. It was a mostly full house and the crowd was plenty loud.

I encourage you to watch some oswho games that don't involve OU; you'll see gaping stretches of empty seats and the crowd's no louder than any other.

It was close enough for me…… I'm glad we had it locked up in the last minute. Sorry about your fall but glad you had a good game experience.

I was at both games. I'm not ragging on our crowd or anything, just stating that the atmosphere is much better and louder. Its not our fault, their area is just really fun and is designed to where everyone feels like they are part of the game.

And to your second point, I went with my sister (OSU vet grad with season tix) to the Maryland game in GIA earlier this year, as I've always liked Maryland as my 2nd favorite team. GIA was pretty packed and loud, but youre right, no where near the atmosphere from Saturday. Still a really cool place to go watch a game, IMO. I think I'll start going to Bedlam there every year.

if you are in the upper deck there are few places worse to watch a game than GIA horrible viewing angle

The camera angle on TV is even really bad. When the crowd stands up, the camera guys have to zoom in to crop out he heads. On Spangler's three, you didn't even see the ball in air. It left his hands and then you saw it go throughout the basket. I was actually confused about what happened for a second.

In the second half, they didn't' zoom in as much and you had all these heads in the way. So annoying. Might be a fun place to go in person, but to watch on TV is not very good.

I can't speak for the upper sections, I haven't ever been up there. My sisters seats are half court, midway up in the middle or 2nd section, I guess is how I'd describe it? Really good seats. As some have mentioned, the stands go almost straight up and down, so from her seats I was just above rim level, but it seemed like we were hovering over the court, which I though was really cool.

I felt like I was right there on the court on those Thomas put back dunks!

Said no OU fan in the history of mankind. An OU fan would say "I wish we beat them by 30 and the place was empty".

Seriously Dan, like last time we whipped OSU, you don't have to give an explanation for your absence after the thrashing. It's understandable you need a couple days to regroup.

:ez-roll: Boca, you are the Daniel Day Lewis of this board. You pick a role, live, eat, breath, and become it. I give you credit for sticking with your chosen character for this long, but the film is over, bud. Time to pick a new role. :p

I like watching a good basketball game... Any time a team wins by 30 it's not much fun for the fans. For the players and coaches, sure, but fans start leaving early even if their team is blowing some other squad out.

I agree 100%.

Glad you're feeling ok now Dan, that sounds scary as is any head injury.

Is Dan a closet aggie? Asking for a paranoid friend.

I think you are somewhat putting words in our mouths. Nowhere did we say that we really wanted it to be any closer of a game...

I was simply staying that I felt that part of me wishes that we could have won in a thriller, or atleast a competitive second half. For the last 8-10 minutes of the game, everyone in the building pretty much knew it was over. Even during osu's last ditch effort, I still had the feeling that there was zero chance that they get in a position to win.

I am completely happy with our win. If you read the other 99% of my post, you'd get that.

BigTime,

If you ask Boca, I am a poke troll. He claims that I only post on this board the days leading up to Bedlam, that I never have anything good to say about OU, and that all I do is talk up osu.

If you ask just about anyone else, I think they'd stand by the fact that I have been pretty active, and that I'm not a "closet aggie".

If you don't take my word for it, feel free to visit my page and go through every single one of my posts and find out for yourself. I'd be willing to bet that the ONLY negative think you can find that I've posted is my concern about Woodard's ball handling & late game shots, and I was being nice compared to 90% of the posters lol.

Why not?

Close game + Victory = Best
Blowout + Victory = Good but not best
Blowout + Loss = Not fun
Close game + Loss = Worst
