I wouldn't be at all surprised if that report is true. UNM signed a 6' 9" post out of Australia last week, to go along with a 6' 9" transfer from UCLA and a 6' 11" guy they signed in November. If Darington Hobson decides to pull his name out of the NBA draft, I'm thinking Alford's roster is going to get a little crowded. Under the circumstances and considering the opportunity Thompson will have at OU, I can't see him picking UNM over the Sooners.

University of New Mexico men's basketball head coach Steve Alford has announced the signing of two student-athletes to a National Letter of Intent. Six-foot-nine forward Cameron Bairstow (Brisbane, Australia) and 6-foot-3 guard Kendall Williams (Rancho Cucamonga) join 6-foot-9 UCLA transfer Drew Gordon and early signees Alex Kirk (6-11, Los Alamos, N.M.) and Tony Snell (6-7, Westwind Prep Academy) in the impressive class for 2010-11.
