Most teams get better as the year goes on. This bunch just gets worse and worse. A mere shell of the team that started the season.

We lost so many heartbreakers in a row that I think these guys just are struggling mentally.

I think you're right. Just hope the memories don't linger into next season.

My man Curt summed it up best on Twitter:

@curtgOK: You get to be young in November. You don't get to be young in February. These guys haven't gotten any better. Disappointing.

In order to avoid this carrying over into next season, this team really needs something good to happen before the season is over. You can only get kicked in the nuts so much before you eventually keel over and stay down.

They are a whipped team mentally and physically. Sure they are young, but teams all over the country are winning with young players.

Frankly, unless Trae Young miraculously picks OU next week, it's going to be a long spell of mediocrity in Norman. I see some good young players at OU but not any better than other teams are rolling out there.

Seems like the Final Four was 10 years ago.

I just did not see the effor tonight, looked like slow motion.

Probably a lot of truth to this, which puts even more importance on the coaching staff to turn it around. Unfortunately, it appears that isn't going to be the case.

It looks like the coaches are done as well as the team. Kruger called a 30second time out late in the game. He convened so long with the other "coaches", there was no time to "coach" the players. The players waited for him to approach them and the time out was over. Sheeeeesh.

Guys, I know that OU is young but last night I think they played the worst 2nd half of the entire season. I felt after the first half they would come out with fire but instead all they seem to do was turn the ball over, 22 or 23 times for the game.

I think Lon has some issues that need to be corrected and one of them is Woodard, he seems to have given up.

But we have many people on here still using that excuse; and calling us "negative nancy's" out when we keep saying at some point you can't use that excuse anymore

But we are a very young team. Whether you like it as an excuse or not.

We have no leadership

And our lone senior is playing like he would rather be sleeping.

That is a recipe for disaster. I see the potential with this group.

I agree that there is talent. But the juniors and seniors (Buford and McNeace are in their third year with the team) have what seems like no leadership or poise. I've seen talented teams throughout all sports and all levels not win as many games as they should because they lack poise. I think that is a problem with the guys right now.

Of the 20 games played within 5 points in the Big 12, Ou has lost 5.

I know at times we look bad but we will turn the corner next year.

I think so too. We've had some really bad turnovers and mistakes that have cost us games against good oppenents.

Toughest schedule in the country with really young inexperienced players. It puts things in persective even if it is frustrating to watch the same thing every game. We have atleast been in most games against quality teams for the majority of the game

I just want to get 10 wins honestly at this point.

I don't see any evidence that we will be much better. The rest of the conference isn't going to lay down.

Then you didn't watch very carefully.

Watching them sometimes can be difficult but it's even more difficult to log on to this website just to read people complain about ... everything. Their effort was fine, especially at the beginning of the game. Their execution was really lacking when they were pressed. They handled it well in game 1, not so well last night. But their effort should not be questioned.

Here we go...

After every game, there's a litany of complaints and they're all basically the same. Lattin sucks. James sucks. The team has no talent. Coaching sucks. Trae Young's going to KU.

Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

You'll get no argument from me on the topic of leadership. I have pointed to the absence of a leader on this team since late December.

While it's true a leader should come from one or more of our third or fourth year players, not a single one of them has stepped up to the plate to assume that responsibility. Woodard is the obvious choice, but he doesn't have the personality to be a leader. Neither does McNeace. Good leaders also lead by example. That eliminates guys like Lattin and Buford who often disappear in games, or they're spending too much time on the bench to lead.

So, here we are, twenty three games into the season without a leader. And, since the best players on this team are freshmen and sophomores, I don't see that changing anytime soon.
