and we get rights to that Greek PF who was drafted 6-7 years ago.

bye bye Maynor.

Did they bring in Brewer for defense only?

Word is, The Thunder are ready to resign Derek Fisher for the remainder of the season...

This doesn't really make sense to me.
What's so hard to understand about it?

Maynor was a third PG with an expiring contract, and he was surpassed by Reggie Jackson, a younger player with two more years left on his rookie deal. Thus, the Thunder had little use for Maynor. Conversely, Ronnie Brewer--a very good defender that can guard multiple positions--will be a valuable role player that gives the Thunder a defender besides Thabo to throw at top perimeter players.

yep. He's a talented defensive player.

I understand it a bit. But to me the Thunder needed a backup point guard the most They already have a guy that can defend a LeBron in Sefaloshia. Of course he won't shut him down but nobody really can. Yes the Thunder are getting Fisher, but he hasn't played in about a year.

Maynor wasn't good enough to be the backup PG, so they didn't need him.

LeBron played 44 minutes a night in the Finals. You can't ask Sefolosha to defend him the entire time. That's why they tried Harden on him for stretches, which obviously didn't work, and asking Martin to do the same would be an even bigger disaster. Having Durant guard him for long stretches would be too much of a burden. When you add in the fact that the Heat also have an elite SG in Dwyane Wade, one really good perimeter defender simply isn't enough.

Westbrook played 38+ minutes a game in the playoffs and averaged 42 in the Finals, so the role of a backup PG diminishes in the postseason. And Maynor wasn't even the second PG. Maynor didn't even play in the regular season, so he wouldn't even be contributing in the playoffs.

I'm not on the Fisher bandwagon, but he hasn't been out of the league for a year. He was starting for the Mavericks two months ago.

There's a chance that Fisher and Brewer won't be on the playoff roster. Depends on where Fisher is after a year of not playing really and Brewer may not even be good enough to get minutes. The guard minutes right now will be going to Westbrook, Durant, Jackson, Thabo, and K-Mart.

Why did you repeat this proven inaccuracy?

No, there isn't. Considering they have 15 players under contract, and they're allowed to have a 13-man playoff roster, Brooks would have to put both Jeremy Lamb and Daniel Orton on the playoff roster while leaving both Brewer and Fisher off.

Unless Fisher is waived and replaced with another PG, he's going to be on the playoff roster. The Thunder aren't going into the playoffs with only two PGs.

Brewer is a 27-year-old that's played significant minutes for playoff teams for most of his career. The idea of him getting left off the playoff roster for Lamb and Orton at this point in their careers is far-fetched.

Kevin Durant hasn't played but a few spare minutes at SG since the Carlesimo era and none since the Jeff Green trade, per 82games.com. He certainly doesn't play guard nowadays.

Also, you listed five players that get minutes at four different positions (with KD playing PF when the Thunder go small), rather than just the guard spots, and Brewer can defend either wing spot.

To be fair, he amended it to "not playing really."

It doesn't matter though, because he's getting left on the playoff roster because Brooks is going to want Daniel Orton instead of a third PG.

So I guess one could say he was 9-10 months off, really.
