at Syracuse.

Supposedly it's supposed to break tomorrow.

I know a couple people up there and am trying to see if I can find out more.

Personally, I'd be shocked if this DIDN'T happen in college basketball. With all the money in college sports and so many people gambling, there have to be players who see the point spread and know they can alter a game just enough to make some cash.

I wish I would have known about the Syracuse guys... I could have expanded my bank account.

Not surprised if true, agree that I would be shocked if this wasn't happening in college hoops.

Will the school get in trouble if this is true?

It's a good question. Does anyone remember if Northwestern was punished by the NCAA in the late 90's (I think it was) when they had a point-shaving scandal? I honestly don't remember.

Syracuse is considerably higher-profile, though. It would seem to me it would be an enormous scandal if something were to come of this, and rightfully so.

Unless someone employed by the school is involved...I'm not sure how they could sanction the school. I see it as similar to Ohio St. players getting free tats or K-State players getting free clothes in that you can suspend the players but can't sanction the school unless you find proof that they knew.

OSUx was gonna be investigated for point shaving until the NCAA realized Keiton wasn't able to shave yet.

Gary Barnett come out the NWestern thing clean...he took the Colorado job without any baggage and it wasn't ever an issue. In fact, he brought a couple transfers with him. That would lead me to believe that NW didn't get punished or if so, not heavily.

The only thing that makes me question the truth to this is why would it be breaking tomorrow? It would be the story of the year in college hoops and would be breaking immediately.

"Just talked to Jim Boeheim's publicist. Coach is completely aware of point shaving rumors and that he is "laughing at them.""

Dangerous rumors are coming out of the Carrier Dome late Tuesday night with a report of possible point shaving by members of the Syracuse Orange men’s basketball program.

According to WYNN’s Andy Adamson, Syracuse players Scoop Jardine, James Southerland and Dion Waiters are allegedly involved in the scandal. Adamson reported the scandal, originally posted at poker website PocketFives.com, on his Twitter and Facebook accounts. He has since removed the entries, leaving many to question the validity of these rumors.

Some of the allegations state that Jardine’s uncle bet on the Orange’s first meeting with Seton Hall this season, on January 8. Syracuse won the game 61-56 but failed to cover as a 7.5-point road favorite. Jardine shot 4 of 11 from the field, including 1 for 6 from 3-point range, to finish with 12 points, three assists and four turnovers. The team’s most recent loss to the Pirates is also under question. The Orange suffered one of the worst losses at home in the program’s history, falling 90-68 as 12.5-point favorites. Jardine scored 11 points in that game, shooting 4 for 10 from the field and finishing with three turnovers.

Both Waiters and Southerland sat out the Orange's most recent game, a 76-70 loss to the Marquette Golden Eagles as 2-point road underdogs Saturday. Waiters (6.5 ppg) averages 16:20 minutes per game while Southerland (5.9 ppg) puts in an average of 17:47 minutes per game this season. Jardine finished that loss to Marquette with 13 points and 13 assists, shooting 5 for 12 from the field with five turnovers.

Syracuse opened the season 18-0 but has since dropped four straight outings, failing to cover the spread in each of those games. The Orange are 18-4 SU with a dismal 7-13 ATS record heading into Wednesday’s road game against the UConn Huskies.

I am skeptical as well.

I kinda felt the same way. I would expect rumors to emerge before an official report, but rumors of an upcoming report are different than rumors of the scandal. If ESPN had enough information that something would be coming out tomorrow, then something would be coming out today.
