Scott Sutton pulling out a one-letter H-O-R-S-E triumph over his nephew, Spencer, Saturday by draining one from Curry territory.
“He is a Division I athlete, and I’m well past my prime,” Scott laughed with a nod to Spencer, who is coming off his freshman season at ORU. “He had to win this. The pressure was definitely on him. No, it was a lot of fun.”
The Suttons were at The Center for Individuals with Physical Challenges for the Eddie Sutton Challenge, an annual H-O-R-S-E shootout that raises money and awareness for the facility.

My favorite part of the event was how much Scott Sutton enjoyed it. The coach has a lot of friends in Tulsa. Several of them who were at the Center noticed how happy he was, and how refreshing that is to see given his final tormenting days at ORU.
Sutton told me how proud he was of OSU’s past season, his first as an assistant to Mike Boynton. He raved about the young head coach and spoke excitedly of the Cowboys’ future.
I teased that he needed to figure out a way to schedule Kansas 20 times, given OSU’s dominance of the perennial Big 12 champion last year.
“Yeah,” Sutton grinned, “Bill (Self) told me the same thing.”
