Scrimmage vs Minnesota?

Kinda how I feel, Stikboy! But I decided to trip over to the Gopher’s web site to see what Mont and others are talking about?

YIKES! We should all be glad our new coach is Porter Moser! We should also be glad he had something to work with when the season started. That’s more than I can say about Minnesota’s new coach, Ben Johnson! The cupboard wasn’t just bare, he didn’t even have a cupboard.

I’m still excited about this OU team. But I’ll have to curb my excitement just a little until I see them play with my own eyes.

Not sure I understand. Did Minnesota not have enough players or something? Did Johnson get hired late? Moser had to sign 9 guys if I remember correctly. With this new transfer rule alot of teams were in the same boat..

Other frosh played limited minutes.

No offense to those young guys, but there really shouldn't be many minutes available to them this year. We have a lot of pretty good, experienced players ahead of them.

You hearing anything about who is getting the backup PG minutes early?

Thank you, Coach!

Glad to hear Noland is getting some early play. I've had a hunch for a long time that he'll be a pleasant surprise as a freshman. Hope it pans out.

Maybe this link will answer some of your questions. You will definitely see why I said I’m glad Porter Moser is our coach. He did one heck of a job in salvaging as well as building what I believe will be a very competitive team this season.

Not yet. Hopefully hear soon. I dont even know starters yet.

Heard OU beat Minnesota by 20+ in their scrimmage, Harkless and Tanner groves were our best players.

Noland was best young player. Other frosh played limited minutes.

Overall good start for OU.

Any word on how the defense played?

I also heard we won easily. Minnesota apparently isn’t very good at all. I didn’t hear about scoring. We have a bunch of good players but no superstars. The younger Groves has more upside than his brother. I don’t think currently is as good though. Just the impression I received. They really like Noland and the commits are all players.

Thanks, vbdad.

Minnesota's not very good, but reading between the lines, it was a bloodbath. no box score released, Minnesota's players were honest that they got their butts kicked. "overmatched."

I just pulled this off Yahoo…loved the title and the first two paragraphs! The article is more about them than us, but still worth a glance.

Thanks, WF! Gopher players were obviously impressed with their opponent in this scrimmage. I got the impression they were prepared for a blowout before the game got underway. I’m not sure we would have learned much if a box score was available. My guess is Moser substituted early and often, and every player on the bench including walk ons got a chance to show what they could do.
