Scrimmage hasn't started yet but based on shoot around, Taylor Robertson has a smooth beautiful shot and it barely touches the net.

I also noted in the warm ups that Taylor Robertson shot was a very pure simple and repeatable. If we can get her open and in rhythm she will make a high percentage.

Madi Williams seemed slower than I would've expected but I saw her getting her ankle taped heavily and coale said they were banged up a bit so hopefully that's why. Lampkin is really fast. It's pretty evident we are going to play fast and not rely on posts. Starting line up looked to be Williams, murcer, llanusa, pellington, and Simpson. Simpson looked leaner and quicker than last year. Williston is definitely the tallest on the team but she didn't play tonight.

In these preseason scrimmages I always find it hard to draw any definitive conclusions. But here are a few random thoughts.

Regarding the freshman I saw good things from Williams, Murcer, Tatum and Robertson. I would expect each of them to be in the main rotation and play significant minutes. Murcer and Tatum were sharing PG position. Williams was main PF and Taylor played SG. Lampkin played in the post. Williston didn’t play very much...maybe she has a nagging injury?

Pellington clearly had been working on her three point shot and made one during the scrimmage..but her main strength is still her quickness and athletic ability to get to the basket. Llanusa played well and got to the rim and I think I remember her making a 3. They will be the starting SG/SF.

Best looking post player was Simpson..she played well and I thought she looked like she had done a lot of weight work..looked stronger and slimmer.

I thought Pellington, Simpson, and Llanusa were for sure starters at the beginning of the year, with Murcer ahead of Tatum V right now but both to play, and Madi Williams ahead of Lampkin but with both to play. Maybe EJ some, especially in defensive situations. Taylor Robertson to come in and shoot that sweet shot.

Ana looked good, Shaina better at 3 point shooting, and playing the shooting guard instead of point. Mandy Simpson looked pretty good, and played a lot-really tough inside. I think Billy Tubbs has been at practice, as we used a lot of pressure defense, quick down court, sub and run push run, with a lot of 3's going up.

Thanks for the reporting... How tall Madi and Dee look?

Got a chance to go to table and look at stats. Assist wise Tatum led rebounding wise Mandy led. I didn’t get to catch the points. But on 3 pointers taylor had one ana 1 tatum 2 Shaina 1
Not sure if stats will be posted since scrimmage. I see our biggest weakness inside. But all things will get better in time.

Madi listed height of 6’ is about right. She has a lot more muscle than Manning did last year so I think she will be okay playing defense on opposing 4s...probably have some trouble vs the Lauren Cox bigger 4s but every one will struggle with big skilled 4s like her.

Lampkin is 6’2/3”. She is a little thin but looks pretty athletic. She did play some 4 during the scrimmage.

Thanks, I think the team could be really good, it’s to bad EJ hasn’t improved much, I was expecting her to have a starting impact on this team...

I'm so over Simpson being SC's little favorite. She started last year for some reason and never produced. I don't even think she was DI quality player. I really hope she's improved a lot if she's one of our starters. It's incredibly frustrating EJ hasn't improved. She's got the height and athleticism, and when we signed her, I thought she had potential to be a Ogwumike-type of player. Either she hasn't put in the work, or we don't have the coaches to develop a post player...grrr. I'm hoping we are an improved team nonetheless! I'd love to sweep OSU this year and at least be competitive with UT/BU!

I'm also really disappointed in EJ. <maybe she just doesnt have the talent I thought she had. Now is the time when we could really use her.

Mandy played quite well in the scrimmage and looked like she deserved the start for now. Rebounded well, some inside offensive moves, moved better, and has some toughness about her. Sometimes desire and heart mean more than "potential".

It is beginning to look like Simpson is our starting center and with Sherri's tendency to use four guard types we will be very small. EJ has always looked like someone who had not played a lot of basketball and still did last year.

I was suprised coming in that Murcer was not rated very high and am now suprised at how well she seems to be doing vs expectations.

Looks like we have some good offensive players but that maybe rebounding and defense will be a challenge as usual.

Hopefully our half court offense will do a better job of getting open looks for what seems to be a pretty good shooting team.

I just get really nervous when I hear that Simpson, a 6-foot player, is going to be our Center. We are going to get simply put creamed by some of those big 12 teams!

All good coments. My view is that EJ will not ever be any good, Simpson in very good shape and very trimmed up. She played aggressively and will be fair for us. Most conceren d because they can’t shoot well. I would guess about 33% last night, and that was the problem last year. But it’s early hope they settle in and get better. Good luck next week, see you at the LNC.

I really don't keep up much with recruiting until they hit the floor. Does OU have any centers that are coming in next year?

Chloe Bloom 6-4/6-5 Australia
Possibly Kennedy Brown 6-5/6-6 Derby, to announce later today.
