Selection Sunday with reactions

It is pretty sad to see the attitude of the moser haters. They are happy as all get out, which was predictable.

And we know that they would be in a pissy attitude if we had made it in

Tells you all you need to know
I’m not happy at all. I’m pretty mad that Moser is going to get another year of mediocrity at least.

Give it time. I’ll be done

Can’t take another year of you and your cronies on this board with PM here
The name calling feels unnecessary when all of the “cronies” as you like to keep calling them were doing were raising red flags they noticed throughout the season.

Each one of those red flags that many on here kept saying were not big issues throughout the year ended up being nails in the coffin. To not acknowledge that the so-called “cronies” must’ve been right about quite a number of things is blatant ignorance. Blind support does nothing. Being self critical is okay when it’s done in the spirit of wanting yourself or your team to be the best version of itself possible. I think that’s what everyone on this board wants

Would love to hear from some of the guys who were beating their chests when we were 6-5 after the easy part of the noncon. Coach, you asked me if I’d admit I was wrong about the team and that we exceeded expectations. I’ll ask you how you assess another lost season. Still feeling great about a team that got steadily worse throughout the season? A coach who is constantly rumored to have a foot out the door? Returning players who went in the toilet? A big time freshman who never saw the floor? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Looking all the way back to preseason, the things that got so many people mad at me were: my skepticism about pace and the DCO crap. My belief that Northweather had no chance to start or be a big contributor. My belief that Moser wouldn’t get the most of the team. Oh, and I was a complete idiot for predicting that McCullar would be a break out player for KU.

I was dead wrong on Waldo and Moore. I was so pleasantly surprised by both of them. The fact that they were so good, yet we still missed the tourney, makes this Moser’s worst coaching job yet.

I question Oklahoma's ability to pump huge sums of money into NIL - small state, smallish alumni base.

An aside, If I was a billionaire, I wouldn't give $ to high school kids. I surely wouldn't invest in the transfer portal to only have your $ taken and the kid back in the portal 9 months later.

The system is unsustainable, imo, especially for smaller alumni bases.

I'm officially a moser hater but i can tell you I'm not happy. I wish he proved us haters all wrong and made it to the final 4. But that's never going to happen again with Moser. (My old signature used to say "Final Four by '25 (or '26 cant remember when mathematically we would make another based on our history)). But ive become a huge hater of Bummer Moser (more like, BM)

You're entitled to your preference, of course, but but trashing a program that has achieved what Coach Gasso's has is laughable. I've gotten much more fun and joy out of softball the past three years than either men's basketball or football. Stew in your misery; I'll be enjoying a great team win game after game, and we'll see who's happier.
I don't care. It's a niche sport and OU fans wouldn't care about it if they sucks. Again. Generates half the revenue and no one cares about it outside of Oklahoma.

Lol where have you been all year?

They weren’t just raising red flags

I agree they are replaceable, but replacing Soares, Darthard, Uzan, and Oweh in the same offseason is a tall order. Especially if JM decided to leave as well. Or Hugely. That leaves us needing SO much from the Portal that I just can't see it happening.
Honestly, and bluntly, the only kid I really care about returning is Jalon Moore. Not counting the incoming frosh.

Moore - He has his limitations. But he cared and that goes a long way with me. He wanted to win every time he laced up the J's. Doesn't mean he performed well every game. He's the kind of guy you can build your team around. Not as the featured player per se but certainly as a team leader/cornerstone.

McCollum - I appreciate his efforts but I was left with a bad taste.....like he's just so limited. He can pack a punch offensively at times but he's one of the worst PG defenders I've seen at OU.

Oweh - High level athlete, not a very good basketball player. Should go play tight end. Sort of kidding and not.

Uzan - Seems like such a good kid. Again, very little fire though. Like he doesn't care if OU wins or loses. I want guys who care.

Hugley - I'm in the middle. He's in bad shape. He does some things well, but doesn't feel like a kid you can depend on.

Keita - Currently wasting a scholarship

Godwin - Probably my toughest personal (player) debate. Okie. Homer. He's a high level rebounder. I'm okay with him as a backup, he shouldn't be starting at OU, but I doubt he's okay with that. Won't be upset if he wants to find a new home.

Northweather - I'd prefer to keep, as he adds value as a stretch 4/5, but eh, whatever.

Cooper - Same as Northweather. I want to see Cooper develop at OU and be an in-state "legend" but again, guards/wings = easy to find.

Cole - No idea, hasn't played. He stays, cool. He leaves, cool.

But yeah, I'm with you. My concern isn't retention at all, it's "Can this same staff build a new, but better, roster? I have my doubts.

I don't care for Moser, but I'm not happy at all. Days like today suck ass from every perspective.

You are correct in some ways. Many on here knew this wasn't a top 15 team. However, your need to be "right", your need to be vindicated with an "I told you so", along with your need to drag down nearly every single thread is hard to take. Please, state your opinion and then let it go.

Every single comment doesn't need to drive down to a 'pissing' contest.

My 2 cents.

Other teams are winning without deep pockets. LOTS of other teams.

Again, and these are made up numbers, but I don't think we got but about 75% out of our roster this year. What if good coaching had increased that number to 90%? We're probably comfortably in the Dance. Until we're maxing out the talent we're able to get and that STILL isn't enough, I'm going to focus on finding a good coach way more than bitching and complaining about not having enough money to pay players to come to OU.

I agree. That's why I say football is treading water at 10 wins this past season.

In a much earlier era, the movers and shakers of the state of Oklahoma decided to use college football as a platform for state pride. They went out and "bought" the best players they could get, though it was against the rules. It worked for the better part of six decades.

Now that everyone can buy players, our advantage in football is gone. And it never was our advantage in basketball.

I don't know if any school in the era of NIL will be able to compete for national championships in both football and men's basketball. Perhaps Texas simply due to money....but they've never had the right coaches at the same time. A lot of us can remember when Oklahoma did, and would like to see those days return. Is it possible? I don't know.

Lol where have you been all year?

They weren’t just raising red flags
I was on the board all season, granted wasn’t as frequent a poster as many. Pointing out issues with the scheduling and regression of the players over the course of the season are raising red flags. Acknowledging we are in a precarious position on the bubble going into the conference tourney is raising red flags. I haven’t seen much other than going after the product on the floor or the scheduling. Open to hearing items that fall outside of that scope that were stated that were negative yet weren’t considered raising a red flag

Moser could have the lakers and he would still find a way to go sub-500 in the big 12. Methinks his very distant past march success was luck more than anything
