Selection Sunday with reactions

OU needs to invest in BBall. The program has been AWFUL since FF year (2016??).
This year wasn't an awful team. Pretty close to a damn good team that we've not had in a while. But just got too many guys being inconsistent. I think if you can bring back the core of the team that has eligibility remaining like McCollum, Moore, Oweh, Hugley maybe Los, have some of the younger guys like Northweather and Cooper take another step next year. You probably need either a transfer or two or the freshmen to come in and improve that core there. They have guys that can make a good run at it.

If you looked at last years team most of us would say just get rid of most of that roster because it didn't have any athletic ability to deal with the Big 12. That wasn't the problem this year. The problem this year was they didn't have guys be as consistent as they needed them to be. Oweh went from being our 1a guy showing a lot of confidence early in the year to just haven't no confidence in conference play.

First, retention. Retention of assistant coaches and players. This will be the first full off-season with the player development guy they got from the Hawks.

Second, players need to develop. They've seen their new roles (Uzan/Oweh) time to take another leap.

Third, need to find an above the rim center and shooting in the portal. This is where Joe C has to come in and decide if he cares about basketball or not.
But no one took a leap.. oweh did against d2 schools lol. Godwin showed some improvements sometimes.. everyone else seemingly got worse and our transfers (some off the bench even) became our best players.. no core guys took a permanent step up.

Bummer Moser ruins any and all players with his dog poop trash offense

They’re not coming back.

Yeah. You just described a bad team at minimum right there. Lol.

Oweh's best game this year was against North Carolina. Too bad nobody else showed up that night. But once conference play began Oweh looked lost on offense.

Tournament is one of my favorite times of the year. College softball and college baseball are awful. I'll watch Saint Peters vs Duquesne over softball and baseball.
You're entitled to your preference, of course, but but trashing a program that has achieved what Coach Gasso's has is laughable. I've gotten much more fun and joy out of softball the past three years than either men's basketball or football. Stew in your misery; I'll be enjoying a great team win game after game, and we'll see who's happier.

Oklahoma has done enough to piss off NCAA and Big12 that we can’t be near a bubble. Combine that with NIL and a shite admin re non football sports and it doesn’t look good. All we need is a generational talent and a couple of 4* guards and some backups. How hard is that to buy? Lol.

Ahhh… that’s his offense. I wonder what he ran..🤣🤣

Oweh is not a good d1 player. He is not going to be a cog in the OU wheel. He beat up terrible teams, he cant get to the rim on good teams

If Moser stays next year will be a throw away year. There’s no way he’s happy.

Def with ya on enjoying the softball… they are fun to watch. Yes they win … and obviously a lot, but I’ve liked the close games that they end up winning… big. They never are out of it

Well every dog has his day.. what else he do?

One of my Donor buddies said he's probably staying and Joe C is "happy" with the progress this year. LOL. It would not shock me if that's true.
That’s even more depressing. Just shows you nobody cares about the program. For all intents and purposes, the program is dead until new leadership comes in and decides to invest more annd is committed to winning. Until then, we are flatlined.

Oweh and Uzan are replaceable (you could argue every player is). There are way too many guards and wings that will be in the portal. Uzan is super talented, you can see it, but very little fire or "IT" factor. Felt like he quit on the team. Oweh is athletic but he's not a good basketball player. Easy to find athletes who can actually shoot/do the little things better. I'm okay with sacrificing some athleticism for buckets.

I'm with him I don't really give a crap about softball it's about like soccer a sport that really doesn't even deserve attention
The whole team was “lost on offense.”
Not always. In fact I feel the offense got decent the last few games. The only bad offensive performance was against ISU who is probably one of the best defenses in the country. They scored in the 80s against Houston, 70s against Cincinnati without the best guard. Scored 70 vs TCU without the best 2 scorers. In the 80s against OSU. 80 vs Texas. The offense wasn't the problem the last half of the season for sure.

I'm almost like "whatever, we already have to pay the loser, lets get another sub-conference record. (The sunshine pumpers roast us on here for pointing out flaws). Be the first out again, fire him for free and then hire a "coach" and go all in with extra cash NIL we saved"
