Selection Sunday with reactions

You are correct in some ways. Many on here knew this wasn't a top 15 team. However, your need to be "right", your need to be vindicated with an "I told you so", along with your need to drag down nearly every single thread is hard to take. Please, state your opinion and then let it go.

Every single comment doesn't need to drive down to a 'pissing' contest.

My 2 cents.
When certain poster reply to every basketball take of mine by making it personal, that’s them who are dragging the thread down and making it a pissing contest.

Honestly, and bluntly, the only kid I really care about returning is Jalon Moore. Not counting the incoming frosh.

Moore - He has his limitations. But he cared and that goes a long way with me. He wanted to win every time he laced up the J's. Doesn't mean he performed well every game. He's the kind of guy you can build your team around. Not as the featured player per se but certainly as a team leader/cornerstone.

McCollum - I appreciate his efforts but I was left with a bad taste.....like he's just so limited. He can pack a punch offensively at times but he's one of the worst PG defenders I've seen at OU.

Oweh - High level athlete, not a very good basketball player. Should go play tight end. Sort of kidding and not.

Uzan - Seems like such a good kid. Again, very little fire though. Like he doesn't care if OU wins or loses. I want guys who care.

Hugley - I'm in the middle. He's in bad shape. He does some things well, but doesn't feel like a kid you can depend on.

Keita - Currently wasting a scholarship

Godwin - Probably my toughest personal (player) debate. Okie. Homer. He's a high level rebounder. I'm okay with him as a backup, he shouldn't be starting at OU, but I doubt he's okay with that. Won't be upset if he wants to find a new home.

Northweather - I'd prefer to keep, as he adds value as a stretch 4/5, but eh, whatever.

Cooper - Same as Northweather. I want to see Cooper develop at OU and be an in-state "legend" but again, guards/wings = easy to find.

Cole - No idea, hasn't played. He stays, cool. He leaves, cool.

But yeah, I'm with you. My concern isn't retention at all, it's "Can this same staff build a new, but better, roster? I have my doubts.
I don't disagree, but if this staff has to rebuild the entire roster, what chance do you give them at Dancing next year? Moser, with his system, is probably going to need guys that can stick around at least 2-3 years. If he has to start over with like, 7-8 new guys next year, no way that works unless we luck into some elite player in the Portal.

It's why I wanted Moser gone. I'm just struggling to see a legit path to success next year.

And that goes both ways. Just because some of us express our opinions, doesn't mean the clown posse has to respond.

I question Oklahoma's ability to pump huge sums of money into NIL - small state, smallish alumni base.

An aside, If I was a billionaire, I wouldn't give $ to high school kids. I surely wouldn't invest in the transfer portal to only have your $ taken and the kid back in the portal 9 months later.

The system is unsustainable, imo, especially for smaller alumni bases.
great coaches are leaving because of nil and portal, it’s gotta be pretty difficult to be an AD these days too. i know the theory is selmon went to miss st to be ready to take over here in a few years, but i feel like joe might not to doing this a year from now. he got us to the sec. he got love’s field. what more does he want to do?

Agree

It appears Moser isn’t great at building a roster.

Which is why I think he can coach because this roster was not good

Notice the SEC also put eight teams in. People who think we will have it easier next season just because we have had success in small sample sizes are in for a surprise. It is similar to the Big 12. We will probably beat up on Vandy and the other bottom two or three but struggle badly against the good teams.

I disagree. We have money and resources. We have billionaires and big donors. We are not tapping into that very well for some reason. We may need new leadership that can secure those donors and the money that we need. Our entire operation is truncated and broken. Meanwhile, our rivals on similar footing are streamlining their operations.

Bama doesn’t have more wealth than OU. Neither does KU and other similar programs. Sure, Texas, aTm, have deeper pockets but we can compete with SEC programs from a Financial standpoint. We just haven’t done a good job coordinating those resources.

And it's why I want Will damn Wade, lol. It's a business that revolves around having the best players (more often than not). You end up with a good-to-great roster at Loyola? You make the dance (and advance). You build average-to-bad rosters at OU, you get left out 2 out of 3 years.

Every single time we have the fire Moser debate, and I partake, I say Moser is a good coach but he hasn't done a good job building his OU rosters. For example: he let Noland and Cortes stay on the roster 2 years too long.

This was his best roster build and it still had so many issues...which, obviously, culminated in a bad stretch run and missing the tourney.

OU has to get serious about NIL and the program as a whole. I hope DePaul was used for that or we're **** out of luck.

Portal opens tomorrow. I guess we'll see what happens. I don't think this staff can competently build a roster that will get OU safely in the tourney but I hope I'm dead wrong (like thinking OU would get in, lol).

Make a lot of money with a cush job with power and visibility

Committee chair just said it on espn when asked how they differentiated between the last couple teams in the field and the first couple out: they looked at record away from home and noncon strength of schedule. Also looked heavily at Q1 record.

It is pretty sad to see the attitude of the moser haters. They are happy as all get out, which was predictable.

And we know that they would be in a pissy attitude if we had made it in

Tells you all you need to know
I'm no Moser hater, I just wanted make the ****ing tournament. So no, I'm not happy....like many others on this board. And the indignation is righteous as far as I'm concerned. I'm sick mediocrity....and as an OU basketball fan, you should be too.

To reiterate.....I'm pissed about today. I'm not trying to be entitled when I say this, but those of us who love OU basketball deserve better.

Is this frustrating? Hell yeah. Not fair? Maybe. But OU is in the exact same spot this year that they were two years ago in year one of Moser. Complaining that other teams got in ahead of OU when they shouldn’t have. How about OU is a complete lock by year three?

I have 0 expectations for next year no matter who OU gets or who stays/leaves. Really don’t know w Moser
