Sherri is WAY over paid! Why...

Well, please admonish me and tell me what she has done for the compensation she is getting? Tell me if there aren't better coaches for that money that do it the right way. THERE ARE!!! That's what my post is about and all you homers act like Sherri is your mother. Yes she DID some great things years ago, not lately and when you are highly compensated you should deliver the goods. And as much as I can't stand her, I would take Kim if we had a national title, which Sherri has never delivered, and a top 5 Performing program year in and year out. And whether you all admit it or not, if she was here and winning titles you all would be lovin on her and kissing her butt too. Heck I Loved Billy Tubbs but he was just like her in that he won like crazy but was a bitt of a butt hole BUT all the OU fans just thought he was dandy
 
Please name me a coach OU could hire who would come in and produce as well as Sherri Coale.
 
Where does Sherri rank pay wise? Is she a top ten paid coach for female basketball?
 
Luckily we'll never have to consider the nausea that an OU hiring of Kim "Skeletor" Mulkey would produce among the season ticket-holders. She doesn't like OU anyway, and Joe C would never hire someone who's such a personal embarrassment to the university.

That's simply because of the Oklahoma law about making an ugly face at a dog.
 
I've stayed out of this discussion just to see where it went. I don't know what is wrong with saying any coach is overpaid based on recent performance. Let's start with Bob Stoops. Is he overpaid? Darn right he is! The huge salary made him fat and happy and he lost his drive to be the best. Can Joe C find other football coaches to come to Norman and finish the year ranked 15th or worse for a lot less money? Absolutely! At least Bob is making changes on his staff so it appears he understands that his recent performance is unacceptable and he is trying to do something about it.

That brings us to Sherri. Is she overpaid? Yes, based on the fact we were not a top 20 program last year or this year. We were used to being a top 10 program. So, what happened? I think the same thing that happened to Bob. She got fat and happy. It started by not giving 100% in recruiting. We probably only have one player who could start for Baylor...Peyton.

Whether my theory of what happened to Bob or Sherri is correct or not is immaterial. What is important is, are they performing like they are being paid? The answer is no and everyone knows it.

So, what is Sherri doing to get back to the top 10? Is she making staff changes like Bob is? No. Is she working harder on the recruiting trail? I sure hope so!

To attack Vinny by saying he isn't a fan or he is sexist is ridiculous. He isn't saying she should be fired and neither am I. I just want to see us get back to contending for final fours again and right now, we are not close to that happening.

I'm pretty sure Bob is paid in the top 5 of all football coaches. I bet Sherri is paid in the top 10, if not top 5 of all women's basketball coaches. I just expect both of them to perform at those levels. If Lon or Patty fall in the rankings like we have in football and women's basketball, I won't hesitate to be on their case too.
 
From looking at Soonersports.com, womens basketball is the only sport at OU without a summer camp. Why?
 
In the past 64 years, OU has won seven national titles in football. That is a title every seven years (approximately). It has been fourteen years without a title. Why not ask more about the person responsible for the decline of that program.

Or, better yet, it has been since 1974 that we won a national title and 1986 since we finished second in a sport that Oklahoma A&M and Oklahoma dominated for fifty years. How did we become so pathetic in wrestling? Go look at that situation and leave one that is successful alone.
 
The only thing I've learned from this pathetic thread is that there is not spit's worth of difference between Vinny and Norm.

Lon Kruger gets paid over $2 million a year and has been to the Sweet 16 three times in something like 28 years of coaching. I think Sherri's been to the Sweet 16 something like 9 times in 18 years.

Please tell us why you don't direct more of your criticism at Lon Kruger? He's making double what Kelvin did & isn't accomplishing any more.

In full disclosure, I love Lon Kruger. I don't think OU could have a better basketball coach for its program right now than him. I'm simply trying to figure out how in the heck Norm thinks Sherri Coale criticism is justified but criticizing Lon right now wouldn't be.

Lon took over a mess just a few short years ago but seems to have the program going in the right direction. Also, his salary is not in the top 15 in the country. But, if you want to outline why you think he is overpaid go ahead. I might disagree but I won't say you started a terrible thread.
