Definitely going to be nice player.. He led a good conference in 3pt shooting percentage. Always need guys like that. Buddy was such a good all-around player, but I am trying to remember the last great pure 3pt shooter OU had? Was it Mike Neal?

I am thinking of guys who were more one-dimensional... Kelley Newton, Mike Neal, Eric Martin, Tim Heskett.

An offseason that appeared from the beginning to be potentially horrendous has turned out to be outstanding. They've done a great job adding Reynolds, Calixte, and Reaves in the last 6 weeks or so.

Reaves is the type of player who usually knocks down threes for the other teams we face. Feels good to finally win one for a change!

It would have been interesting to see JR Raymond play his final 2 years..... he was good, but Kelvin kicked him off the team for failing 3 drug tests. Didn’t he join the Army or something? He never played college basketball after that.

I wanted to add Brent Price to the list but he played in the early 90’s.

Some may not have thought of Quannas, but he shot a very high percentage, especially his senior season. I remember Kelvin making a joke once about how for a guy who wasn't considered a good shooter, he sure made a lot of shots. He rarely took bad shots, and seemed to hit a ton of shots at key moments. I'd have to look at the numbers, but my memory of Raymond was that he was a little streakier than most guys who are considered pure shooters. I may put Neal on this list instead of TMG. He went through a long stretch where I was stunned any time he missed an open three.

BTW, this is a great discussion during an otherwise slow time of the year!

Neal was nothing short of tremendous his first year, but his second year he could barely make anything. I think there was an issue though, might have been an injury? I can't quite place it. I remember like you though, that first year if he hit the rim when he was on, let alone miss, it was a real shock.

I looked up Michael Neal's stats, and they are just bizarre. His first year he shot 29% on 2 point field goal attempts. I remember him being a decent player, but statistically he was pretty brutal.


Also, Isiah Cousins was a 40% 3 point shooter for his career. He actually had a higher percentage for his career than Buddy, who really was more of a volume shooter until that ridiculous senior year.

Streaky shooter. Pledger was good when he was on, not so good when he got off to a slow start.

I actually predicted he could become one of the best three point shooters in our history when he signed with OU—one of many off-the-wall predictions I have been wrong about over the years.

Multiple injuries. Groin injury, strained Achilles, torn ligaments in his right thumb.
