Steve Nash to the Lakers

not surprising that they made a deal for him. problem is will he defend at all?

nope .. he never .. has ..

the lakers did improve .. but they are still not close to the Thunder

The Lakers were as close to the Thunder as the Thunder were to the Heat and they will get significantly better with this deal. It's not a certainty that Dwight Howard won't get traded for Andrew Bynum either.

What will the Thunder do to get better? The bar gets raised each season.

the Thunder will PLAY better - that is how they will improve.

They have yet to scratch the surface on the team they can be with a little more experience.

Heat just added Ray Allen and are working on Marcus Camby.

Experience won't be enough for the Thunder. They better make some moves because the bar gets raised each year. The next couple years will tell the story if Thunder ownership is willing to do what it takes to win a title or just wants to make a nice profit. Winning has to be your #1 goal. You can't worry about managing the salary cap because teams that want to win will do whatever it takes.

everytime I see you talk about the thunder management I think of your stance on the sonics trading lewis and allen

if Harden play "normal" in the finals the Thunder would have had a parade ..

the Thunder will continue to get better and better ..

I am in the minority and dont think nash will help the lakers at all. i dont think koby and nash can co-exist at all.

However, ray allen was a huge pickup by the heat.

If Lebron James was not on the heat the Thunder had a chance vs the Celtics. Other than that ... zippo chance.

This only marginally improves the Lakers. Their achilles heel last year was the total lack of any bench players and this doesn't address that issue. Additionally the Lakers will have 4 starters 32+ years old, so how will they hold up over an 82 game season plus playoffs? They need a lot more pieces to the puzzle right now.

Lucky, I can't believe you would think Steve can't exist with anyone in the league. He is one of the best team players in the history of the game, if not the best. Here is a guy that could have been one of the game's leading scorers every year, but chose to be a facilitator! He is just gonna make things easier for Kobe and the bigs on that team. It may take them a while to learn how to play together, but they def got better!! And he is just a great teammate and leader.

Everything you said makes perfect sense, if you ignore the fact that they Kobe and Nash spent a good chunk of their careers hating each other. If they can get passed the personal stuff, it should be a good situation for the Lakers.

Nash is a good pick up for the Lakers. The question is, how long can a 38 year old guy continue to play at a high level? He'll have one, maybe two more seasons at best.

But as SuperHoops correctly pointed out earlier, the Laker's main problem last season was the absence of a legit NBA bench. I'll also add that their perimeter shooting is among the worst in the league. Steve Blake, the Laker's top three point shooter, barely made it into the top 100. He's ranked #100 with a 33% shooting average.

Nash will help, but it won't be enough.

That's ridiculous. Teams don't always need to make drastic changes to get better. Thunder got to the Finals with one of the youngest rosters in the NBA. There is still so much room for these guys to grow and get better.

Is everyone forgetting Eric Maynor? All I hear is that the Thunder didn't make any moves while other teams are getting better, but getting Maynor back is like signing the best back up point guard in the NBA. Maynor is good enough to start for several teams and will be a HUGE "addition" to the Thunder this coming season.

This takes pressure off Harden to be the main scorer and facilitator when KD and RW are on the bench. Maynor is a big upgrade offensively and defensively over Fisher. He can shoot 3s, drive (with a wicked runner), pass and gives the Thunder's 2nd unit a HUGE advantage.

Look at every year since the Tunder moved here- horrible 1st season, playoff team 2nd season, Western Conference Finals 3rd season, and NBA Finals 4th season. Every year in the playoffs, they've lost to the team that won the Championship. And the Heat are getting old and this year have to face an 82 game schedule:

Ray Allen- 37 coming off bone spurs in his ankle and his playoff average was about 1/2 his career ppg
Shane Battier- 34 clearly on the downside
Dwayne Wade- 30 battles injuries every season and seems to be slowing down
Rashard Lewis- 33 and coming off his worst season
Udonis Haslem- 32
Mike Miller- 32 w/chronic back problems

You forgot to list one Lebron James who is just entering his prime. Lol.

The Heat are far from old. Your list includes only 1 guy outside of his prime. In case you were wondering prime age for most NBA players is 28-35 years old.

Most is the key word. Mike Miller, Shane Battier and Rashard Lewis are not in their primes, despite being under your arbitrary limit of 35.

Lebron, Wade and Bosh are in their primes. The rest of the team doesn't need to be. They just need to save plenty in the tank for the playoffs, like Miller and Battier did in the finals against OKC.
