Stevie Clark greaduating early?

Via Jeff Borzello's Twitter, recruiting analyst for CBSSports posted last night...

"@jeffborzello: Stevie Clark mentioned UConn, Missouri, Florida State, Oklahoma State and UCLA as his top five. And he's staying in class of 2013."

He is not leaving early per a direct quote from Stevie Clark and he listed OU not OSU.

That is not what is being reported by an analyst at CBSSports who is watching Clark and other top recruits at the NBPA Top 100 camp and spoke with him yesterday. Also from a direct quote taken by Clark. I'm not sure why Clark would lie to a national analyst with no ties to either state school. ESPNInsider just posted a blog about his Top 5 and discusses OU being left out of the mix as well.

i think its the right move for Clark to wrap up his senior year of Highschool so he can get ready to play college ball and hopefully he signs with OU

Stevie's brother Deondre picked up offers from LSU and Tennessee this week, says Rivals.

His brother may play football for OU. His cousin is Keith Clark who played basketball for OU. He is from an OU family. He has told James Hale he is very interested in OU on numerous occassions. He has been to several OU games. I will stick with local media over the national media.

Clark is going to return for his senior year of high school and likes OU. Where he ends up is anyone's guess but he likes OU and plans to go to several games at OU next season.

What about that includes OU?

James Hale is a terrible source for information. He is an "OU recruiting guy" who is paid by OU subscribers...of course he is going to make the recruiting situations as hopeful as possible.

Yesterday, you were claiming that you knew oswho wasn't in the running, that you thought OU's chances of getting Clark were decent.

Here's a direct quote from Clark from two days ago: “Right now I am still considering OU, UCLA, Missouri and Florida State and I am going to be looking hard at those four schools.”

What about that includes oswho?

Sure, Hale writes for a Sooner audience, but he's no Swain or Robert Allen. He doesn't make stuff up out of whole cloth. He interviewed Clark at length and Clark expressed a interest in OU, with many more quotes in addition to the one above.

Now, some national reporter, who I'm guessing has had much less interaction with Clark than Hale, says Clark left OU off his list.

Who knows? Maybe he did. He's, what, 17? I'm sure his list will continue to change on a weekly, daily, even hourly basis. One day, OU's on his list; the next day, oswho is. Perhaps it'll be Tulsa tomorrow, ORU on Saturday, and UCO on Sunday.

But even at that, he changes his stance less often than you do.

There are 2 national reporters who have reported the same thing. ESPN Insider article brings forth the fact that OU was not included in his top 5.

Who to believe? James Hale who has a bias for his subscribers or 2 National guys who have no biased?

The Tulsa boards are still waiting for you.

Probably the same non-biased national media that had Bruce Weber to OU and had OU receiving the death penalty.... Don't believe any of this garbage until it is spoken by the actual person involved

I believe them all, is that so hard to grasp? I can easily believe that a couple of days ago, Clark listed four teams, and OU was one of them. And I can easily believe that yesterday or today or whenever it was, he listed five teams, with two new schools on it and one removed.

What's so difficult to understand about that? He's a kid receiving a ridiculous amount of attention whose every passing thought on the topic of where he might go to college in 14 months is reported in the press.

On the other hand, the dizzying changes of direction in your pro-oswho spin I can't defend, explain, or excuse (nor do I have any great desire to).

Finally, if you think James Hale concocted an interview of more than 1,200 words out of whole cloth, then I don't even know what to say to you. Composing a story with a particular audience in mind is one thing; making up paragraph after paragraph of false quotations -- and that's what you're implying he did -- is something else entirely.

Good advice.

Therein lies the difference between James Hale's report and a national media reporter who is offering an opinion about a kid he never met. Hale is quoting what Clark told him. OU reporter or not, I know who I believe.

In the end, Stevie Clark may prove both reporters wrong. As Skyvue correctly pointed out, there is no way anyone can be sure what a sixteen year old kid is going to do a few months from now. I doubt if even he knows at this point.

I agree if there's one thing James hale would never do it is intentionally deceive someone for his own finacial gain. I'm offended someone could even make that up.

People don't pay for his service to get good news. They pay to get news, good or bad. He delivers plenty of bad news. We don't land every recruit we go after, even in football. He reports on that stuff too. It's ridiculous to think he would make up something he attributed to a kid, especially if it's a direct quote.

If an Oklahoma basketball player gets an offer from UCLA, Kentucky or North Carolina he better really love OU to pass up one of those. Since Clark is from such a successful athletic family my money is on UCLA. Surely they know what a joke Missouri is and he will drop them.

Haven't seen Clark play but curious why Kansas is not in the mix?

:ez-laugh:

I'm no James Hale fan, but I believe James wife (at the time) is who was embezzling from the guy who owned the burger kings. James did go to jail for it, but his guilt came from him knowing it was happening and possibly enjoying the extra income.

So, while I LOL'ed at your witty comment, it's not really accurate.

It must really hurt you to see Clark's list change so frequently but always include MU (especially when half the time OU is absent).

Cracks me up that so many of you will stick up for Sawyer, yet ran cheno and grace off. Look above, Sawyer takes as many, if not more, shots at OU then those two ever did.

What cracks me up is that this thread can go on for days. Can the burning question of who little Stevie currently likes best really be all that relavant.

And at the same time. From an article posted on this board, Kruger is quoted as saying, " We return all of our starters from last year, but I could well see it being a different starting lineup from last year".

Zero comments on that one. I wonder why.
