Stevie Clark greaduating early?

I never know what's proper in sharing news gleaned from another (pay) site, but it is being reported that our prospects, as regards Mr. Clark, are better than the aggies who spend time on this board would like to believe.

I hope you're right, Sky!

Hopefully you aren't getting your news from hale, i want to believe

It's from Hale, but he's quoting Clark.

Unless Stevie Clark completely misled reporters a few months ago, he was saying things about OU like "we" "when" and "us" refering to himself and OU. To me he seemed extremely interested in OU. I am sure he will explore his options but I think he is interested in OU and until I read a direct quote from him saying otherwise, I am not going to put much stock into rumors that he is not interested in OU.

Wait, just so we are clear, the aggie fans that visit this website don't have clairvoyance on this? More foreknowledge than the horses mouth, even? Gasp.

The news concerns his decision regarding his senior season at Douglas and his top four colleges of interest.

One Oklahoma university is included among those four, and its colors do not bring Halloween to mind.

Thank you for the easy riddle. :woot

I think you are allowed to paraphrase.....and if so, what did he say about his senior year at Douglas?

I just read the story on OUinsider. James Hale is reporting that Stevie Clark will retun for his senior year of high school. He also reports that his top four choices for college are OU, UCLA, Florida and Missouri.

What! OSU is not in the mix? :ez-laugh:

I read the article, too. Denver is spot on about what Hale is reporting.

The article did say that Stevie had decided to return to Douglass to play for Ingersoll. JH doesn't feel that rescinding the offer to Ingersoll will have any affect on Stevie's decision. Let's just say that the reason he gave is plausible to me.

Clark was in Stillwater this past weekend for a visit. Yeah, he's not interested in osu

I've been to Stillwater for a visit, and I was never interested in oswho.

I'm not sure if Stevie reads this board, so I'm not sure why you are posting this here, as he is the person you need to send this to. The information provided is from him. Your beef would be with Stevie, so maybe you can friend him on facebook or send him a tweet declaring your outrage and demanding an answer.

Maybe he was in town to get a Whataburger.

If you want to believe that OSU is in the mix for this kid, knock yourself out. All I know is what he told James Hale. His top four schools are OU, UCLA, Mizzou and Florida State.

Clark was also excited that his brother had received an offer from OU. If Deondre picks the Sooners, I think our chances to sign Stevie will only get better. He's from a close knit family, so I can't see him going to FSU or UCLA, where watching him play could create a hardship for them, particularly his mother.

Stevie said that he's looking forward to playing AAU ball and attending several camps this summer, and that he plans to go to as many OU game as he can, so he can continue to develop his relationship with the players and coaches.

You can take the things I gleened from the interview as fact, serve them up with a grain of salt, or you can keep trying to convince yourself that OSU may be in the driver's seat for this kid.

I'll repeat what I said earlier. All I know is what he told James Hale. Hale's reports may contain an occasional typo. But he is not prone to reporting inaccurate quotes from the recruits he interviews.

I like what I hear from Clark. I know we're no lock at this point in time, but you have to feel good about our chances (I don't think, for example, our coaches are going anywhere anytime soon, which is a factor he cites as being important to him).

To further reinforce this point, Clark did not say those were his top four schools. Rather, he said, "Right now I am still considering..." and listed those four schools, as if all other schools are no longer in the running.

If Clark stays in HS, which is what I've read, then I would think all 4 of those schools stand a really good chance.

OSU definitely drops on the list as Ford doesn't seem to be as "high" on this kid as other coaches are. Ford has his eyes on 3 other highly rated PG's other than Clark (not that I think he should as Clark seems to be a really great player, and I wish we could of gotten him for 2012 especially). But Kruger is banking on Clark as he won't be pulling in Kendal Harris most likely.

I don't think Ford is giving the attention Clark wants if OSU is going to pull him in. Especially with Ford on the ""hot seat"...something Clark doesn't want, Deondre leaning towards OU with an offer in his hand, and Guerrero/Smart playing PG for OSU in the future....two highly rated guys who will take the majority of the playing time. While OU only has Grooms who couldn't shoot a basketball into a laundry basket.

Plus the proximity for his family (although OSU has that as well)...I think Stevie Clark is a lean to OU if he is in the class of 2013.

I think the biggest obstacles to OU landing Clark are these two:

1. He has said numerous times that he wants to see how the pg's are used on any team he is considering. Reading between the lines, I think he wants to play fast, and be allowed to make plays. The scary thing here is that OU doesn't have a team that can play fast (yet, maybe moreso this year), and Grooms certainly can't play the same style that Clark wants to play. I'm sure Kruger is telling Clark this, and hopefully that is enough.

2. Clark wants to win, and play on good OU teams. Last year's class definitely puts our program back on course, but I'm sure Clark would like to see some improvement this coming year before pulling the trigger.

JMO.

Assuming Clark has had more than a passive interest in OU the past couple of years, he has to know that the Sooners made a concerted effort to push the ball more last year. I believe the pace of play will increase even further with Hield, Cousins, Hornbeak and M'Baye on the team. Drew might want to think about dropping another 20 pounds this summer, or he may be sucking air trying to keep up with what should be a very athetlic group that likes to play fast. I also think that Stevie will see a much improved team that will tell him all he needs to know about the direction of our program.

In short, if an up tempo offense and a program on the rise again are the primary considerations, I think OU will be in good shape to sign Mr. Clark. I have all of the confidence in the world in our coaches to make the right moves toward building a lasting relationship with Stevie and his family. Will that be enough? Sure wish I knew the answer to that question. To steal a James Hale phrase, in the wacky world of recruiting, one can never be sure about anything.
